Solomun Plus One Pacha

Posted on March 13, 2013

Ibiza 2012 saw a select few DJs capture the headlines on the back of some amazing performances, winning plaudits from their peers and an army of new fans along the way. One such DJ is Solomun, the German giant behind the labels Diynamic and 2DIY4, home to many of the protagonists that captured the island’s underground community in numerous cool parties throughout the summer, the likes of H.O.S.H, Stimming, David August, Karmon and Kollekiv Turnstrasse, to name only as few. When he wasn’t appearing in cool parties in many of the islands super clubs, he was holding court every Tuesday at the hottest new venue, Sankeys Ibiza. The season ended with a roadblock closing party and a ‘Best Producer’ award from the Pacha DJ Awards.

The Pacha connection continues as Solomun takes up permanent residence in the club on Sunday nights, launching on Sunday May 26. Solomun + 1 features the enigmatic front man alongside one other forward thinking DJ/ producer pushing the musical parameters and challenging the Ibiza crowd on a weekly basis. Solomun’s deep, sexy, bubbly basslines and groovy down tempo house showed us that we can have a good time at a much slower tempo, where melody is the focal point and where chunky beats rule. Some of the names that have been lined up to accompany Solomun in his new residency give a clear indication that this is a party designed to push the musical boundaries as far as they can be pushed, including the likes of Ame, Dennis Ferrer, Miss Kittin, Tensnake and Mark Hemmann.

Sunday night will see Pacha alter its legendary layout with the focal point being on the centre of the room, where Solomun and his chosen DJ partner will hold court. It is an exciting time for one of the world’s most famous discoteques as it gets set to welcome some of the most forward thinking electronic dance artists every week. Solomun is understandably excited at the prospect of the new challenge and had this to say; “I’m totally fired up and just really excited about it. What was important to me about Solomun + 1, was for my star guest and I to be a part of the entire party.” That’s exactly what they will be with the DJ booth being positioned in the centre of the floor, allowing the masses to surround and enjoy the talent on show. Ibiza 2013 promises to be one of the most exciting summer’s of recent years.
