Ibiza Rocks House At Pikes Hotel remains, year after year, one of the venues we look most forward to returning to when the new season starts. Steeped in island – and rock ’n’ roll – history, you never know what to expect when you step into the magical surroundings of the White Isle’s very own wonderland. To stay at the top of their game, over the years the team behind the quirky boutique hotel has made several adjustments to the original building and services, but never taken away from its authentic charm and mischievous spirit.

Lovingly restored in 2011 by new owners Andy McKay and Dawn Hindle (founders of the world-famous Ibiza Rocks brand) and adored by locals, Pikes fuses Balearic spirit with up to the minute edgy millennial style. The hotel was originally created in the late 1970s by the legendary Tony Pike; now in his 80s and still a resident at the hotel, you can rub shoulders with this Ibiza icon at parties throughout the season. For the last few decades Pikes has been a playground for the music elite with regular guests including artists such as Grace Jones, Spandau Ballet, Bon Jovi, George Michael – who filmed the famous Clu Tropicana music video at the glamorous abode – and Freddie Mercury who held his legendary 41st birthday party at the hotel in the infamous Marrakech Suite, now named ‘Freddie’s’ in his honour.

With the new season in touching distance, the Pikes crew has announced that on April 29th they will not only open the doors to the eclectic venue for the summer of 2017, but also reveal a new look and food menu. Promising the same ‘devilishly decadent’ party vibe with a few stylish cosmetic changes and new additions to the property by interiors style leaders Rockett St George, we can’t wait to see the iconic Freddie’s party suite following its makeover and sample the tasty treats of in-house restaurant Room 39.

Having introduced some healthy additions to the hotel’s menu in 2016, this year head chef Lee Milne, who has previously worked at award-winning restaurants including Restaurant Gordon Ramsay and The Vineyard at Stockcross will unveil a whole new food concept based on Mediterranean family style, while keeping the focus on locally sourced, seasonal produce. He says, “Pikes is relaxed, it has a fun, social vibe and this should continue into the food experience. I love family style eating, it feels… like family! People don’t eat from their plate, they eat from the table, sharing flavours and textures and coming together in mind, body and spirit over these elements and over the emotions stirred by it.”

With a whole new look and the culinary cravings of its guests taken care of, the question on our lips is who will be providing the soundtrack to one of the most hotly anticipated opening parties on the island? Artwork, Melon Bomb, Rock Nights, Justin Harris, Brothers Grim, Harley Maxwell and friends, David Phillips, Andy Wilson and Flamenco from Paco Fernandez will unleash their infectious beats upon the venue and keep the crowds dancing all night long. And what is guaranteed is that like every Pikes party, it’ll be a night to remember!
