As we are nearing the end of October and the weather gets ever more temperamental, with the superclubs long shut and even the clock marking the official end of the season, even the most resistant of us have to admit defeat and wave goodbye summer. But, this being Ibiza, needless to say we weren’t going to let it slink off without a final fiesta! Having held the fort on the golden stretch of sands longer than many of its neighbours, last night saw Nassau Beach Club wave goodbye to the 2018 season with an explosive last hurrah.

We would have said ‘shut its doors’, however, this is not technically the case as the stylish venue will remain open until January 12th 2019 to offer its loyal customers a seaside bolthole throughout November and December. Switching into ‘We Love Winter’ mode, following their seasonal closing Nassau Beach Club will be welcoming guests on a reduced schedule from Wednesday to Sunday, with a great value menu for 25 Euros per head served on weekdays, and the full a la carte option available on weekends.

Despite these welcome news – and a mix of heavy rain and thunder serving to remind us that winter, is indeed coming – island residents turned out in force to join the end of season celebrations by the sea. Decorated with a Flower Power theme for the occasion, the restaurant and bar opened its doors early in the afternoon to give revellers the chance to fuel up on fabulous Mediterranean and Asian cuisine, and expertly mixed drinks, before the party took over. Brave souls arrived from all corners of the island and soon, the glamorous lounge bar was bustling with revellers busting out some tentative first dance moves to the deep house beats dropped by Nassau regular Miguel Garji.

After the sun had set, and with ever more people arriving, soon the dining space – now cleared of tables and chairs to make more room to dance – had turned into a full-blown mini club complete with an impressive laser light show, beautiful dancers and powerful bursts of C02 canons. Nassau favourite David Crops was giving it his all behind the decks, energetically dancing along to his own infectious tech house set that had everyone up on their feet and throwing their hands in the air in approval.

As the party neared midnight, more and more of Ibiza’s movers and shakers kept arriving still to congratulate owner Christian and his wonderful team on another successful summer, a joyous and familiar vibe in the air as we laughed, drank and danced together. Turntable talent Tom Pool had taken to the booth and started off with some deep, hypnotic soundscapes that had us all mesmerised before transitioning effortlessly to a harder, more driving edge that whipped the floor into a frenzy. With one reveller literally taking off her hat and handing it the DJ, we couldn’t agree more with the sentiment: chapeau, Nassau Beach Club, for another class act of a season!
