Island boys the Mambo Brothers, took to their very own decks for the first time on Monday June 11 to launch the first of a monthly series of parties at the sunset strip’s legendary pre-party bar. Inviting a special guest to play alongside each event, the opening was a monumental one for the brothers. Typically the hands behind the running of the venue, the duo came centre stage for the first time with long-time friend and dance music superstar, Roger Sanchez, in tow. The crowds were out in full force, stretching out on the rocks leading all the way up to the setting sun itself. It was the perfect summer scene; a hot pink sky, infectious feel-good beats and a carefree lot cheering the night away.

San Antonio has always been the most authentic-feeling of the island’s bustling hotspots and with the town’s very own homegrown talent starting the party for the night, the mood was laid-back yet full of buzz. Yachts had pulled up to the coast to catch the moments running up to the sunset and as ethereal melodies echoed out across the strip, it was a dramatic moment as the sun lowered itself into the glimmering sea. The sky turned a brilliant hue of gold and fuchsia and the customary round of applause erupted as the sun finally escaped into the horizon. Not a second late, the beats kicked in and the tempo leapt a notch or two as the Mambo Brothers took over, throwing the crowds up on their feet.

People passing the bar had stopped to groove along in the street and it was certainly amusing to see those who were just trying to get through, give up and ending up having a shimmy, too. It wasn’t long before Mambo Ibiza’s traditional celebratory shots were being passed around to the crowds around the booth as the duo worked their way through this special debut set. As night time descended, the bright purple and pink lights bathed the huge circle of people that had formed outside the bar watching on. As if the vibe wasn’t feel-good enough, the pair dropped the incredible ‘Free’ by Ultra Nate that had everyone in an uproar, a reminder of the brilliant moments that only Ibiza provides.

Cake and champagne christened the brother’s final moments, celebrating the huge moment for the pair, before bringing in Roger Sanchez. In the UV-lit backstage, girls and boys cheered away as Sanchez came on with a festival of sound, trumpets, kick-snares and drums galore. There is truly no better way to bring in an evening and celebrate Ibiza’s iconic sunsets than a few drinks at Mambo Ibiza. On its 25th season of warming up the party crowds, the bar will be hosting plenty of legendary names over the summer, be sure to stop by for the ultimate Balearic party-starter.
