Ibiza Gets Saucy!

When you live by the code of creativity not conformity and you happen to be a bit of a gastronomical genius, interesting things are bound to happen. That has been the road that Sid Shanti has travelled and it has produced some spectacular results so far.

From capturing the imagination and respect of international foodie royalty such as Jamie Oliver, to penning much loved island food bible ‘Glorious Ibiza Food (& Music)’ and creating highly addictive chili chocolate thins, it seems there is very little in the culinary stratosphere that Sid Shanti cannot turn his hand to. It will come as no surprise then, to those that know him, that he has only gone and produced a range of delicious hot sauces, 100% natural and hand made in Ibiza.

Ibiza Chili Co is literally the hottest thing on the island this summer and can be found in many of Ibiza’s finest eateries, including El Chiringuito, Sa Trinxa, La Paloma, Pikes and Ocean Beach Ibiza. It is also available to buy and counts HEART Ibiza as one of its vendors, which, when you consider it is the brainchild of the Adriá brothers of El Bulli fame, it quite the endorsement. “We are the first to grow very rare and very hot plants here in the rich soil of our island farms in the North of Ibiza,” explains Sid. “We use many fruits and vegetables that grow in our farm and wild on the island such as lemons, carob and nisperos to produce a 100% natural product – absolutely no nasties added.”

There are four sauces to choose from at the moment, varying in strength and flavour. Lava Verdy offers a citrus twist, Magnificent Seven for those that prefer fruity, Oh Carolina for those with a sweet tooth and the smoky, spicy Balearic Baroque. Each sauce boasts an individuality born from Ibiza freshness, carrying a Balearic flavour and bringing Mediterranean heat. These magnificent sauces are produced in the Ibiza Chili Co kitchen where “magic happens, love is given and creations come to life”. The process includes de-seeing, de-stalking, mixing and mincing as the fresh produce from Ibiza goes through the process of becoming one of the four tasty sauces. It’s yet another exciting island based concept from the magical mind of Sid Shanti. Enjoy!
