Ibiza Comes To The Alps

Posted on October 31, 2014

Luke Peppe has been running a successful villa rental company in Ibiza for as long as we can remember but a chance trip to Chamonix in the French Alps on holiday led to a diversification into the winter sports holiday industry. 2010 saw Luke and business partner Javier Anadon, of Ibiza’s influential Mambo Group, buy Big Foot, a 25 year established catered chalet business in Chamonix and 2013 and 2014 saw the first step to bring the Balearic buzz of Ibiza to the winter haven with Mambo On The Piste, featuring Mambo Ibiza’s high profile resident DJs playing to the party loving skiers and boarders on the slopes and in some of the bars around the popular resort.

2013 was a significant year in more than one way as Luke added to his portfolio with the acquisition of Rudechalets, the premier snowboarding brand operating in Morzine and Avoriaz, one hour away from Geneva and one of the coolest winter sports brands with existing partnerships with XBox, Burton and Red Bull. 2014 sees the launch of Rude Lodge, in Morzine, cementing all aspects of the business under the Rude banner and offering the winter sports enthusiasts a unique opportunity to sample the Ibiza party vibe that has become so famous around the world.

Winter 2014 sees Ibiza Villas 2000 and Bigfoot Ibiza join forces with Rudechalets in launching The Rude Lodge, the most innovative, forward thinking ski and snowboarding hostal in the Alps. The Rude Lodge will take over the iconic Le Laurys hotel in Morzine, just one hour from Geneva airport, giving the venue a 1.2 milion euro makeover and turning it into the ultimate base for the winter sports enthusiast. The hostal will offer 40 beds in twin or dorm rooms, all with en suite shower facilities and storage facilities for your gear. The Rude Lodge will have free wi-fi throughout, a music and media centre with camera picture and video upload facilities, an amazing après ski bar and the very first Rude Cafe serving breakfast snacks and dinner seven days a week.

It wouldn’t be a true representation of Ibiza if there wasn’t a nightclub housed beneath the venue where the famous Ibiza resident DJs that can be found sound tracking the sunset and playing alongside some of the biggest international names throughout the summer will be on hand to deliver the ultimate Apres Ski party. The Ibiza connection doesn’t stop there, Mark Broadbent, previously one of the driving forces in Ibiza concept We Love Sundays In Space, will be programming the line up, guaranteeing a special blend of talent and a genuine representation of the clubbing capital in the heart of the Alps. The club itself is the epitome of cool kitch 80s style, with hot pink tiger skin sofas, an illuminated ‘Satruday Night Fever’ dancefloor and a state of the art sound system, perfect for the talent that will be performing on it, installed and tuned by The Shop Ibiza, responsible for many of the bigger installations and events in Ibiza. Add that special and affordable bespoke ski and snowboarding packages will be available to all, with accommodation in The Rude Lodge starting from £28 per person per night, and the Ibiza experience in the heart of the Alps just became the must do trip this winter.
