Hotel Santos Opens In Style

If you want to know the thinking behind the latest addition to the Playa d’en Bossa landscape, all you have to do is check out the wall. Santos, a beach club by dreamers is what it declares and if that is so, then they couldn’t have dreamed of getting off to a better start. Saturday May 11 saw the new venue, overlooking the beach in Bossa, welcome some of the finest talent that island has to offer to help them celebrate the launch of yet another fantastic beach club on Bossa beach. Is it any wonder that similarities are drawn between this stunning stretch of sand and South Beach in Miami.

The DJ booth is perched on a small stage overlooking the kidney shaped pool, with pink lights washing across the area and the stars acting as a natural lighting rig after the sun disappeared. I’m not sure we could have squeezed one more person into the intimate arena for fear of us all ending up in the pool, not that would necessarily have been a bad thing. Playa de’n Bossa has led the outdoor revolution in recent years, with many of the venues on the beach all offering an amazing option for partying under the stars and Santos, the latest addition, has ensured that there is yet another viable option for those that prefer their club experience al fresco.

It was a busy weekend for the essential team, popping between many of the great parties that are occupying the Ibiza night time now that the season is well and truly in our sights. With Ibiza Sonica covering the party it was easy to keep in touch with the action before we got there but nothing prepared us for the atmosphere that met us when we finally landed. Smokin Jo was in charge of the booth and delivering her trademark seamless blend of chunky nuggets that demanded that we dance and who are we to argue! Other DJs on the bill were Sebastian Gamboa, Jose Padilla, Orial Calvo and Kaspar & Hauser so as much a statement of intent as an opening celebration.

The crowd was very much an island friendly one, with faces from all over the island showing their support for the new guys on the bloc but the atmosphere resembled a mid season high, giving us an insight into future nights this summer. The beach club has every intention in delivering the same top quality line up throughout the season, which can only be good news for you and I and the army of clubbers preparing to invade the island over the next few months. The venue is the perfect size, not too small to be inhibitive and not too big as to lose that club vibe, all in all, as it declares in its own artwork, this is where miracles happen. Ibiza 2013 just got interesting.
