As far as birthday celebrations go we are all fans of popping down to our local for a few drinks, having a meal with our friends and maybe even hitting a club or two afterwards. However, when you are one of the biggest techno DJs on the planet, the boss of your own record label and run hugely successful parties all over the world, the likelihood is you might opt for something more extravagant. Sven Väth , Cocoon Recordings grande jefe and mastermind behind the Cocoon parties at Amnesia is soon to reach his half century and what better way to turn fifty than orchestrating a massive blowout in both Ibiza and Germany. Sven decided to throw two parties because although his home is Alemania, his heart in the summer lives in Ibiza and the Kaiser wanted to celebrate and share the love in both countries. The second party will take place in October in Germany, but the first installment takes place tonight at BEACHOUSE in Playa D’en Bossa.

BEACHOUSE has taken Bossa by storm and it has not even seen its first birthday yet. Offering first class food and a fantastic beach club experience along with throwing THE parties of the summer this brainchild of Jonathan Thorogood, of El Chiringuito fame, is now well and truly on the map. EssentialIbiza is invited to have a civilized dinner at four o’clock before the party becomes thoroughly uncivilised. A delicious seafood paella lines our tummies along with seranno ham tostadas and a salad of green beans. We wash this down with some sangria and vino tinto, keeping it all traditional! Andy Baxter, El Chiringuito and BEACHOUSE resident DJ is providing the soundtrack to our meal before Appollonia superstars Shonky and Dan Ghenacia arrive as special guests.

The guys get into the DJ booth and start off relatively chilled, slowly building the tempo. By the time eight o’clock rolls around the beach club is starting to look seriously busy and the duo are rolling out some serious beats to match. The crowd plant themselves firmly in front of the DJ unit, on the steps down to the beach and on the sand. The VIP areas are full and even the day beds outside are covered with beautiful people and ice buckets full of vodka or magnums of wine. In the meantime the birthday boy has arrived and looks happy at sight of the party unfolding before him. Jo Youle grabs Sven for a quick chat in the showers (the quietest place in the beach club) and you can check out that interview HERE. Soon it is time for Papa Sven, as he is affectionately known, to take control of this fiesta and the man himself wastes no time in jumping on the decks accompanied by a fine selection of vinyl to the absolute joy of the crowd. Ibiza Sonica has been interviewing DJs that have played with Sven or were discovered by Sven and each one says the same thing ‘Sven Vath changed my life’. Everybody is honoured to either work with Sven or simply just to know him.

Starting off relatively chilled (for the master of driving techno) the crowd eat up every beat and it is not long before the whole party is cheering and clapping each drop as the Kaiser takes the tempo up another level and moving around BEACHOUSE becomes an Olympic sport, negotiating the throbbing mass of bodies shaking it to Sven Vath. As the party draws to a close nobody wants it to end and looking up at the awesome electrical storm taking place in the sky it seems even God is calling for one more tune.
