The Black Madonna is a house music meteorite who has smashed the world twice over with her selection ability, infectious energy and vigorous attitude. Having played all across the globe, with a handful of prestigious residencies under her belt and countless performances at Berghain’s famed Panorama Bar; The Black Madonna is – without doubt – one of the most talented selectors in the industry. For this summer, Ibiza’s own OpenLab has secured her residency services with a new radio programme headed by the house music hero.

We Still Believe broadcasts every Friday at 10pm, starting July 19th. Having earned her airwaves stripes playing college radio back when, The Black Madonna (AKA Marea Stamper) knows exactly how to work an audience, whether that’s on the dancefloor or in the comfort of a car. It will be an out-and-out showcase of pure funk, slick house music, exemplary disco and more. Here’s four of the best things to expect from We Still Believe on OpenLab.

Spoken Insight

The beauty of radio is that hosts can add their own personal stories, insights and experiences to every track they play – and The Black Madonna has a lot to tell. As such expect to hear backstories and anecdotes about all the music Stamper plays on her show which will add to the enjoyment of the whole thing.

Upfront Sounds

The Black Madonna says she will also focus on new music in this show, so expect to hear the sort of material she is working on herself, as well as freshest unheard cuts from all her artist friends before they make it out into the shops. If there’s one thing Stamper knows, it’s house music. Listen to believe.

The American promises that she will occasionally enlist a guest or two, and given that she has shared the decks with everyone from cult fashion designer Virgil Abloh to Honey Dijon to Mike Servito, expect a very high-quality selector when she does.

Personal moments

Radio allows artists to dig deep into corners of their record bags they can’t usually call upon in the club. Maybe it’s a slower tempo, maybe it’s a more introspective mood, whatever, but there will be nothing off-limits in this radio show so you can look forward to a wider sphere of sound than ever before from this DJ mainstay.

We Still Believe begins on Friday, July 19th at 10pm, and will run throughout the summer season. You can listen to OpenLab online and at 89.9 FM.
