Float Your Boat returns for 2015 with a brand new collaboration with Cream Ibiza, one of the island’s longest running and most successful parties. Thursday sees the FYB official warm up to Cream Amnesia and what better way to start than with special guest Philip George joining Jason Bye in the booth to deliver the musical journey. It promised to be an exciting few hours on the Mediterranean, with it being the first Float Your Boat of the summer, the launch of a brand new collaboration and the debut for Philip George, add the prospect of heading to Amnesia later for the Cream Ibiza opening party and we couldn’t wait to get on board.

We arrived at Plastik just before 5pm. There was a steady crowd gathering, eager to get on board for the official open party with Philip George and Jason Bye, what a combo! There were 2 for 1 offers on all house spirits at the bar, so everyone was making the most of it and ordering multiple drinks. We headed over to the boat at 6pm, the weather was pretty awful, cloudy and there was a spot of rain, which was really disappointing as I was eager to see the sunset from the sea, but it didn’t seem to dampen anyone’s spirits. On arrival, each person got two free glasses of sangria, not my favorite drink, but I definitely wasn’t complaining, and as soon as everyone was on board, the engines were fired up and off we went. The boat features an impressive Pioneer XY Pro-Audio Sound System, making the music extra loud and so clear. There’s a large low and top deck, perfect for those of us who like a good dance.

The weather wasn’t playing fair and the sea was a bit choppy, which didn’t make for easy dancing, or getting down the stairs for that matter – the people on the top deck looked like they were in some sort of fun house where the floors move, but it didn’t stop anyone from dancing, I don’t think anything would. The atmosphere at first was quite relaxed, but as soon as the partygoers had a couple more drinks, things really started moving. In no time at all the top deck was completely full, Jason Bye had the full boat jumping to his seamless blend of house and techno music, I dare anyone to say they didn’t enjoy it. I could see instantly why it was completely sold out of tickets. Philip George kept the tempo going with his effortless mixes and iconic style.

The sunset didn’t reach its full potential but, truth be told, such was the atmosphere on the boat, no one even noticed. This was an amazing start to the Float Your Boat summer season and the perfect way to get the brand new Cream Ibiza collaboration up and running. We headed back to the port at around 9pm. It felt like the party went by so quickly, as my first boat party experience, it definitely did not disappoint. The music was unreal and atmosphere even better. Once the boat docked, all the revelers headed to Cream at Amnesia to carry on the night. It’s the perfect pre party, and it’s something that everyone has to experience when they come to the island, I’d definitely recommend it. Float Your Boat runs every Tuesday and Thursday until September 17, leaving San Antonio Bay at 6pm.
