‘Break Down The Walls’ might be the official motto of Guy Williams’ mini residency at Pikes Ibiza, but last night we had more concerns about the roof of the iconic hotel being lifted off as Flash, his sizzling party for the ‘gay, straight, boys, girls, don’t knows and don’t cares’ took over the legendary White Isle venue for a second time.

With a carefully and knowledgeably curated line-up, fierce and fabulous drag queen and dancer Raven Mandella as an ambassador for the night, and a whole busload of partygoers hand-picked by the inimitable BAYBJANE, the event was bound to be a night to remember. When we made our way through the sprawling gardens towards the famous Freddie’s – the late Queen frontman’s former habitation at Pikes, now a boutique clubbing space – the first people we bumped into were some of Ibiza’s finest performers keen to let lose on the dancefloor – a dead cert for the party to be on fire!

After a sociable mingle on the tree-shrouded terrace, where we spent some time taking in some of the amazing looks on display – revellers had most definitely made an effort, whether they were clad in an expansive black and white striped gown or, indeed, just gold body paint and not much else – we finally hit the dancefloor, upon which Guy Williams himself was unleashing some energetic and bouncy house beats before special guest Hannah Holland was set to take over the decks. Always a goosebump moment, Pikes’ very own Ruby Murry marked the changeover in tune selectors with a powerful rendition of Italian aria Nessun Dorma, which never fails to bring a tear to our eye! With the pop of a glitter canon that covered the whole room in silver sparkles, Batty Bass ‘head honcho’ Hannah stepped behind the decks and launched straight into an upbeat feel good set on a disco tip.

Moving on to deeper, more driving basslines – with some irresistible anthems such as Never Can Say Goodbye by Gloria Gaynor and Fleetwood Mac’s Looking Out For Love thrown in for good measure – the crowd was going wild for it, giving their all on the floor. Welcoming one and all, the atmosphere was joyous and a celebration of love without judgement, with music lovers of all genders, generations and orientations happily dancing the night away together.

Guy Williams returned to the booth to lead us ever deeper into the night with deep, irresistibly slinky house beats that soon morphed into phat basslines with distorted vocals that demanded every last ounce of our energy. But, with three more Flash events to take place on August 16th, September 20th and October 4th, we didn’t feel too bad about when we eventually abandoned this fabulous fiesta, knowing we will surely make a return next month!
