For house music lovers on the island, all roads led to Eden Ibiza on Sunday as Defected brought its summer season to a close. Not for the first tie this summer, the San Antonio venue offered a roadblock as fans of the respected label/ party turned out in force, vindication, as if any were needed, on its decision to choose Eden for its residency on its return to the clubbing capital.

And a triumphant return it proved to be, on the back of a mission statement that read, in our house we are all equal, Defected delivered a summer packed with international talent, many of which are signed to the label, filling the famous San Antonio club and putting the four-four sound of house music firmly on the island map. Clubbers from around the globe have shared the dancefloor all summer, witnessing some of the most talented and innovative artists on the scene at the very top of their game. The final party of the 2017 season offered much more of the same and featured Sonny Fodera, Sam Divine, Franky Rizardo, Low Steppa, Simon Dunmore, Waifs & Strays, Jacky, System 2 and Sharples, with a special appearance by Camel Phat, on the back of their recent crowning as tune of the season.

Chunky house beats burst out of the state of the art sound system, washing across the packed main room floor all night, flitting between cutting edge and classic and ensuring the final party atmosphere was as electric as all that had gone before it. Simon Dunmore is the driving force of the respected label, a man with an acute understanding of what a dancefloor needs, the string of Defected anthems over the years testament to that but also a DJ that knows how to move the floor. Franky Rizardo is one of the hottest producers on the defected roster, and, after a back to back with Simon Dunmore at the pre-party in Café Mambo, he wasted no time in ramping up the energetic crowd when he got behind the booth.

Sonny Fodera and Low Steppa offered one of many highlights on the night as they went back to back, teasing the room with some delicious beats, including a foundation threatening re-rub of Faithless! Sam Divine has been omnipresent this summer in Ibiza, consistently delivering a commanding performance in front of the fiercely loyal Defected crowd and once again took the party hardened floor on a magical musical journey. The biggest roar of the night was reserved for ‘Cola’, the recently crowned tune of the season has been played by a variety of DJs at numerous Ibiza parties, all with the same outcome, dancefloor devastation. It was a rousing end to a perfect season and a triumphant return to the clubbing capital for Defected.
