If you have ever taken a stroll along the historic streets of Dalt Vila and wandered through the atmospheric main stretch of Plaza de Vila, lined by the picturesque whitewashed town houses, vibrant Mediterranean eatery El Olivo Mio will almost certainly have caught your eye. A quintessential part of Ibiza’s culinary scene since the ‘90s, in 2016 the renowned restaurant was taken over by well-known White Isle restaurateur Rita Sachs, who turned it into the gastronomic hotspot it is today.

As you approach the terrace, where Ibiza’s movers and shakers as well as gourmet visitors to the island dine underneath the stars, the red and white colour theme grabs the attention immediately, with retro inspired polka dot tablecloths, glowing candles and flowerpots adorning the whitewashed walls adding to the romantic vibe. Inside, the décor has been put together with plenty of attention to detail, with fresh green plants, red roses and trendy copper orb lamps embellishing the ceiling, while striking art work adds further splashes of vibrant colour. The overall effect pays tribute to the venue’s roots and the rich Spanish history of its location.

On the menu, diners will find the finest Mediterranean fare created with carefully selected ingredients chosen for their premium quality. Homemade croquetas with the choice of a rustic chicken, fresh prawn or classic ham filling will delight your palette as you choose your starters and mains, almost too good to share! For your first course, the finest Iberian ham served with crystal bread and aromatic tomatoes vies for your attention alongside wild sea bass ceviche, zucchini flower stuffed with ricotta cheese or foie gras of Perigord duck.

Main courses include luxurious foodie treats such as miso-glazed black cod, tender lamb shoulder that has been roasted for five hours, black truffle tagliatelle or a traditional suquet of monkfish and clams. Meanwhile, the little ones can enjoy simpler dishes such as hearty pastas made with classic sauces such as Bolognese or pesto, or breaded chicken pieces Milanese style.

Last, but most certainly not least, the postres lure with decadent concoctions like French brioche served with luscious vanilla ice cream, or international favourites such as crème brulee. If you are looking for a restaurant that serves up the wow factor across all levels, El Olivo Mio is just the ticket. From the surroundings steeped in history to the romantic ‘modern gypsy’ ambience and the spectacular food, this is one gourmet hotspot not to miss out on!
