Alter Ibiza is set to explode on to the 2016 Ibiza season on Wednesday July 20, with an opening fiesta that features many familiar Ibiza names, including Jo Mills, DJ Antz, DJ Callum, Rusty Egan, Scott Gray, Nigel Atkin, Rocky Percussion and Ivan M On Sax. Located on the site of former Ibiza powerhouse Club Summum in San Antonio Bay and adopting an over 25 only door policy, the new concept calls alter egos to join in on Wednesday July 20 to celebrate the latest addition to the island club scene.

The weekly schedule incorporates several of the club brands that are intrinsically linked to the clubbing capital, having all made a significant impact over the last two decades. Picking a selection of the residents from these weekly parties for the opening fiesta not only guarantees an amazing start to its debut summer but a chance to sample some of the amazing music that will be booming out of the Void system. With a combined experience that can count most of the island’s best parties and venues in its portfolio, the opening line up is bursting with talent, all of which has a reputation for rocking Ibiza dancefloors. It’s the perfect opening salvo for Alter Ibiza and one that lays down a clear statement of intent for the summer. Jo Mills has occupied several cutting edge Ibiza residencies from Circoloco in DC10 to Pacha and Wonderland in Eden and continues to deliver a cool groove to discerning clubbers. DJ Antz has been at the heart of many Ibiza parties from Glitterbox to Amante and never disappoints. Scott Gray is one of the team behind Melon Bomb, the party that has added colour and funk to Ibiza in recent summers and Nigel Atkin is a founding member of Car Wash, which boasts over two decades of global clubbing activity. It’s a genuine heavyweight line up to get the club off to a flyer.

Chatter has been flying round the island for weeks, spreading off island and catching the attention of clubbers around the world, that Ibiza was set to welcome a brand new clubbing concept. After a whirlwind that has seen the venue transformed and ready, Alter Ibiza is ready to unveil its weekly line up as it delivers boutique clubbing for grown ups in a unique over-25 only venue. Originally the Summum club, opened in 1979, Alter Ibiza has transformed the Luis Güell designed venue into a spectacular basement boasting split columns, marble staircases, sculptures adorning the walls and a Void sound system to deliver a world renowned sonic performance. With three bars catering to your every need you will spend more time on the dancefloor and less queuing at the bar! All the Alter Ibiza seating areas are open, there is no cover charges or minimum spend, at Alter Ibiza, everyone is a VIP.

Alter Ibiza has collaborated with recognised promoters and brands, assembling a world class weekly line up that includes Retro on Monday night, I-Culture on Tuesday, Antz Play It By Ear on Wednesday, Engage Ibiza on Thursday, Edit Fridays, Boutique Balearic on Saturday and Car Wash finishing the week on Sunday. With an ethos that sees artists and promoters being given all of the ticket price, Alter Ibiza is encouraging them to invest in the best possible line up, bringing the finest talent to the intimate, stylish setting. One criticism that has often been leveled at the island in recent years is the price of drinks and again, Alter Ibiza has addressed that, offering a fairer drinks and ticket price structure to allow you to have the best night ever without breaking the bank.

Starting the week with a San Antonio favourite in Retro is a stroke of genius. One of the longest running UK club brands, with Paul Taylor a driving force, offers clubber a chance to relive clubbing memories, delivering a soundtrack littered with nostalgic anthems and feel good music. No longer will Mondays have that stigma of being the worst day of the week when you can look forward to dancing to some of the biggest tracks of the last two decades. I-Culture on Tuesday night brings a deep and soulful house journey at the hands of some of the UKs finest, including prolific producer Richard Earnshaw, Steve Taylor, Max Hardcastle and special guests to be announced.

The Alter Ibiza week continues on Wednesday with Ibiza legend DJ Antz. Play It By Ear. Having played at many of the island’s best parties over the years, from smaller more intimate island affairs to Defected’s Glitterbox, his ability to merge classic house with new releases and keep the dancefloor moving has made him one of the most popular spinners on and off the island. DJ Antz will also be joined by a series of special guests through the summer. Thursday night sees another legend return to Ibiza to renew his love affair with the clubbing capital as Fat Tony brings Engage to Alter Ibiza. Running in the same circles as Boy Goerge, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, this talented DJ has punctuated some of the biggest parties in the UK capital and is looking forward to his new Ibiza challenge; “I play really eclectic stuff – reworks, old tunes, new tunes, I like to take people on a journey. I thrive on it. Everything I play is uplifting and vocal, nothing deep and dark.”

It’s a week packed full of talent and it runs right through to the weekend, with Friday night welcoming Edit as Phil Jaegerossa and Jordan Murphy invite a series of special guests to the intimate venue. With a soundtrack that includes everything from house to funk, soul, hip-hop disco and b-bop and an entry price of just 15 euros, this promises to be a big start to the weekend. Boutique Balearic takes residence in the flagship Saturday night and features some of the biggest island DJs of the last decade including Pete Gooding, Jo Mills, Andy Baxter and Dave Phillips, who, between them, have played at every major party or club in Ibiza. It’s a strong local line up that has more air miles between it than a seasoned BA pilot, with an ability to rock any floor and one that will deliver an electric atmosphere in the intimate venue. Again advance tickets at just 15 euros or 20 on the door!

What better way to round of the week than with Car Wash, a club brand with over two decades of history, hosting thousands of parties worldwide, welcoming over a million clubbers. Original founder Nigel Atkin and partner in crime Steve Altman will be at the helm, joined by Rocky Percussion, Garbo on Sax and a series of special guests. Advance ticket price is 10 euros with 15 on the door on the night. It’s another proven Ibiza party at a sensible price with a penchant for disco classics, ideal for rounding off the week in hip-swinging style! Alter Ibiza is coming and the clubbing capital will never be the same again.
