Stylish, sophisticated, sexy… and a little bit mysterious. A lot of buzz has surrounded the introduction of Cotton Beach Club’s glamorous new concept Curtain Call Privé and we couldn’t wait to check it out for ourselves. Every Wednesday from 1pm, the chic eatery invites diners to enjoy their signature delicious seafood, fine wines and champagnes mixed with atmospheric music, stunning entertainment and, of course, those famous sea views.

Cotton Beach Club owner Christian Marstrander had told us that he wanted to re-introduce high octane glamour into the daytime party experience, so we polished our highest stilettos, put on a flirty little cocktail dress and headed off to Cala Tarida. Arriving at the dazzling white venue is always a spectacular moment, no matter how many times you have been. Sitting high atop the rugged cliffs, the expansive sea views will never fail to take your breath away, and on this occasion an extra dramatic effect had been added to the eatery in the form of flowing white drapes blowing in the breeze, shrouding the guests from prying eyes.

Perusing the wine menu, we started the afternoon in style with a bottle of Champagne Collet from France, enjoying the bubbles fizzing away as guests started to fill up the dining area. Dalibor Daddoff played a chilled, but soulful mix of house music while glamorous dancers in extravagant black hats and chic lilac onepieces showed off their moves both on stage and the swings that had been suspended from the ceiling especially for the event.

The Curtain Call Privee menu offers diners a ‘seafood tower’ for the culinary part of the experience, which had us excited when we first heard about it but still did not prepare us for the enormous etagiere of delicatessen that was brought to our table and was assembled in three stages! At 75 Euros per head, we were spoilt rotten with a huge lobster taking pride of place on the top of the pyramid, cleverly cut so no tools were needed to get to the soft, sweet flesh concealed behind its shell. On the second level, a selection of juicy shellfish such as king prawns, langoustines razor clams and blue mussels awaited. And the base of the tower was packed with mouthwatering gourmet creations including a generously sized seared tuna chunks in a delicious sauce, huge tender scallops and fresh, delicate oysters accompanied by a selection of dips. With two vegan diners at our table, we also shared a selection of vegetable sushi garnished with avocado, seaweed, spinach, cucumber and a dusting of sesame seeds

While we tucked into this veritable seafood feast, our ears were seduced by the sultry vocals of glamazon Gigi Macfarlane, an Ibiza favourite when it comes to captivating live performances. Working her magic through the room, the singer crooned funky and soulful interpretations of classic hits such as Fever, Been Around The World and Beyonce covers. Never one to scrimp on the entertainment value of a concept, the next surprise Christian had lined up for his guests was an aerial performance, performed by the stunning Giulia Reina, who wound her way up to the ceiling on a silk rope and dazzled us with her acrobatic skills.

As we finished our meal, we switched to the delicious Whispering Angel rose wine, sat back and enjoyed the performances. Around us, the atmosphere got livelier and saxophonist Gabor appeared just in time to take the party to the next level. With more dancers appearing, this time clad in sleek black costumes, and the encouraging staff beckoning us onto the dance floor, it was time to get our groove on. Putting us all to shame, the talented Giulia Reina reappeared and wowed the audience with ballet show set to a lounge version of Britney Spears’s Toxic. And this just about sums up the Curtain Call Privé experience: sophisticated and sexy, with premium food, drink and entertainment, it’s one to call the babysitter, dress up and step out in style for an unforgettable afternoon high above the sea…

The next Curtain Call Privé event will take place on June 15th. Book a lunch or drinking table at reservations@cottonbeachclub.com to avoid disappointment.
