Traditionally, Saturday night is the biggest night of the week, the night that the majority of people work all week towards. It’s the night when everyone goes out and lets off a bit of steam. On the White Isle, however, every night of the week is a Saturday night, which means that in order for Saturday still to maintain the elevated position amongst the rest of the days, it has to deliver something special. Luckily for it then that Saturday is the night Defected Records takes up residency in Pacha Ibiza then. Defected Records has been hosting parties all over the world almost as long as it has been producing the anthems that fill the floors. Taking on the flagship night on the clubbing capital makes perfect sense for them and tonight, label head Simon Dunmore is joined by Solomun and Aeroplane in Pacha’s famous main room as Defected Welcome Home Ibiza’s glitterati.

Saturday is a night for getting dressed up and Defected In The House has become one of the most glamorous parties on the island, the crowd inside the main room is beautiful – decked out in the latest designers but not afraid to get their groove on. This is a glamorous party alright but one that knows how to have a good time. Simon Dunmore has been finding new talent and signing hit records for as long as he can remember. Even before Defected Records he was instrumental in bringing some of the biggest tunes to our attention. He has an uncanny ear for a good tune and it is this as well as his love for what he does that makes him one of the finest DJs that plays on this island. The room is packed and he has the floor moving when we arrive, chunky house with some vocals every now and then has the huge crowd sporting huge grins.
Defected Records has some of the finest house producers and DJs on its roster meaning that wherever they throw a party, they have the ability to call on some of the world’s finest talent to come and play. From legendary Miami winter music conference parties that read like a who’s who of house to the weekly Ibiza residency, if you love your house music, this is the party you want to find yourself in the middle of. Tonight, it is the turn of Solomun and Aeroplane, two amazing producers that have a unique insight into what makes a dancefloor tick and who can transfer that studio ability to the DJ booth with ease. The tempo should be slightly slower than Pacha is used to but tonight promises to be one of the parties of the summer so far. Aeroplane – or Belgian Vito DeLuca (after Vito and original flying partner Stephen Fasano, now The Magician, decided to go their separate ways) – is custom built for Ibiza. His Balearic flavour has seen him deliver some of the finest house cuts of the last decade! Having seen Aeroplane as a duo at the Benicassim festival a few years back I am excited to hear how the sound has evolved now that it is just Vito flying the plane.

Solomun has had a huge couple of years that has seen him catapulted into the hearts of discerning music lovers everywhere. The Diynamic Music label boss has been behind some of the biggest club bangers of the last couple of years, either through his own production, remixing or his label. His own Ibiza residency Diynamic Neon Nights Ibiza has also captured the imagination; this is definitely his time and where better for him to shine than in the main room of the world’s most glamorous discoteque? Solomun’s amazing variety of house with a distinct Balearic flavour has the main room grooving. Hands are in the air, there’s virtually no space on the Pacha dancefloor as he controls the capacity crowd with ease. His recent appearance for Defected resulted in one of this Ibiza moments, end of the night, crowd refusing to leave, one last tune type of moments that saw the main room erupt and that’s exactly where we’re headed tonight. His emergence over the past year or two, with more and more clubbers around the world embracing his particular brand of house has seen him become one of the most in demand individuals in the scene. On the basis of tonight’s performance, Solomun is only gong one-way as his star continues to rise.
Defected In The House once again delivers, in a scene that is constantly changing it is reassuring to know that no matter where you are in the world, Defected In The House provides a quality constant!
