Ibiza is an island that attracts DJs from all over the world, many of them are international stars booked to play in the many world class venues that the island boasts but there are an army of DJs that head to Ibiza every year, determined to carve a place for themselves in the world’s clubbing capital. Sebastian Gamboa was born and brought up in Ibiza so he has spent his whole life watching DJs of all shapes and sizes arrive and leave the island. He has club music running through his veins, having been immersed in the culture for as long as he can remember. He has become one of the finest DJs to play on the island and commands a great following, especially amongst the residents. His Vintage party has been a trusted and popular party for years and tonight he brings it to San Antonio and the brand new Ocean Beach club as Sundays in San An gets a brand new party.
Ocean Beach Club Ibiza has got off to a flyer, the stunning beach club located on S’Arenal in San Antonio has only been opened a couple of weeks but it has already put its stamp on this summer, delivering lavish pool parties during the day that morph into outdoor parties under the stars, as well as a wicked after party in a cool space that is open until 6am. Ocean Beach Club has turned two run down plots facing out into the San Antonio bay into one of the hottest tickets on the island and tonight it is the turn of Vintage to add its name to a growing list of credible brands and parties that are heading to San Antonio. The focal point of Ocean Beach is undoubtedly the pool, the 600 square metre centrepiece provides the option of going for a swim, paddling to cool off, water filled dancelfoor or a place to lie and relax on one of the in-pool loungers. There is also rigging to the side of the stunning pool that allows the performers and acrobats to do their thing but a little more on that later.
Sebastian Gamboa’s Vintage party is one of those that has the luxury of popping up all over the island and bringing with it a cool crowd. He has built up a steady following over the years that trust him with their night out and he never fails to deliver. Armed with three CDJs and a technics 1210 – yes, he still plays vinyl – Sebastian builds the party vibe. Ocean Beach is filled with multiple nationalities, providing a unique cosmopolitan atmosphere as Sebastian takes us through a musical journey that compliments the day, from the bright sunshine of late afternoon, through sunset and into the night, when the beats become a little more chunky and people start to come alive. Having warmed the crowd up perfectly during their sunbathing hours, by the time the sun disappears, most of the big crowd are itching to get their groove on, many have already started, dancing on the day beds and in the pool and pretty much anywhere they find themselves.
Throughout Sebastian’s set, performers take to the stage, from the violinist to the singer to the stunning dancers and the gymnasts, who contort their bodies around small rings suspended from the rigging at the side of the pool, this is clubbing theatre with a twist! As the sun disappears and darkness descends, Ocean Beach takes on a whole new dimension; the massive pool lights up from within to dramatic effect, soft coloured lights wash across the area, completely changing the look of the beautiful beach club. By the tie Sebastian is finished, the floor in front of the elevated DJ booth is packed and many of the clubbers have taken to the pool, which becomes a second dancefloor. Only two weeks into its life and Ocean Beach can be satisfied at what is happening in San Antonio as they are attracting cool clubbers from all over the island and delivering a unique experience to the west coast of the island.
