David Guetta is arguably one of the most famous people on the planet right now. A bold statement and one you may initially question without a second thought but stop for a minute and consider the level of his fame. He has transcended the normal adulation shown to top drawer DJs, he has united musical genres and could spend every single day in the studio with a different multi-platinum selling artist, if he wanted to, such is the demand for his services. There can’t be many countries in the world where he is not known. I’ll say it again; David Guetta is arguably one of the most famous people on the planet right now!
David Guetta has been DJing and producing music for almost two decades, regularly providing dancefloor ammunition for top DJs and maintaining a healthy touring diary. With multi-platinum selling albums – ‘Just A Little More Love’, ‘Guetta Blaster’ and ‘Pop Life’ – spanning a five-year period between 2002 and 2007, he was pretty well known throughout Europe. With wife Cathy he launched the FMIF brand delivering high energy, electro infused parties all over the world and combining musical genres that before then had been considered taboo.

At the same time Guetta started collaborating with artists outside of the dance music spectrum, the likes of NERD, Timbaland, The Black Eyed Peas, Kelly Rowland and Kanye West and the rest as they say is history. He has enjoyed number one hits all over the world, his youtube station has over 70 million worldwide hits and climbing and his videos remain some of the most watched on the popular online channel. David Guetta has become an international popstar!
In Ibiza, the FMIF brand goes from strength to strength, whether it be the constantly sold out Thursday night party in Pacha, the shop selling memorabilia or some impromptu appearances throughout the island, David Guetta is big business. His idea of sharing emotions, of uniting musical genres is certainly one that the rest of the world has bought into. His recent appearance at Ushuaia for Pete Tong All Gone Ushuaia – alongside Pete Tong, Usher, David Morlaes, Doorly and Idris Elba – is further justification, as if any was needed, that people have a varied musical palette and they like to see their heroes, from whichever genre, appearing together. At one stage during his performance Guetta was surrounded by Usher, Taio Cruz and Ludacris, I wonder who has the most platinum discs out of that lot?

Early on in the season, before the summer really kicked into top gear, David Guetta made a special appearance at the IMS (International Music Summit), you won’t be surprised to hear that it was a sell out, see a pattern appearing yet? Thursday night in Pacha is full, every week, and will be until the end of the season. David Guetta has struck a chord, he has combined musical genres, he has developed a sound that is pop music but with an edge and he has built an army of followers along the way. He was never a struggling DJ/ producer trying to make ends meet but since 2009 his star has very much been on the ascendancy! If you don’t mind a crowd and are fond of enjoying yourself and spotting the odd celebrity or ten, checkout FMIF in Pacha every Thursday.
