We’ve kept her out of the clubs for almost a day and a half so, understandably, LC is like a coiled spring and jumps at the invitation to check out Subliminal… “Wednesday night on the white isle really only means one thing, American record label Subliminal is back for another season of its sessions, taking residency at the hub of all that is luxurious in Ibiza, Pacha. And after a few nights of relaxing I’m definitely ready for this one. I’m headed down with team essential for what promises to be a glamorous affair as Subliminal takes on Dirty Dutch!”

Although I have been coming to the island for as long as I can remember, it’s only been in recent years that I have been able to fully appreciate what it’s all about. The nightlife. And since then, Pacha has been one of my favourite clubs by miles. Since it’s opening in 1973, Pacha Ibiza has been renowned the world over as the most prestigious of all on the island, located on Avenida Del Ocho De Agosto, Ibiza Town. Just a few steps back from the Marina Botafoch, which is home to some of the most up market venues in Ibiza, including the Blue Marlin restaurant, Lio and the 5-star Ibiza Gran hotel. It’s safe to say that Pacha enjoys one of the most opulent locations on the island…and it definitely fits in.

Breezing past the ticket queue, which was already stretching round to the restaurant, and up the guest list and VIP was quite a bonus as everyone is eager to get in. Just as we walk into the famous main room, Dutch DJ and producer Chuckie is really getting the crowd going, warming the room up nicely before the arrival of Morillo. The atmosphere is rising steadily and the dancefloor is busier than I expected, but then again it is August. Truth be told, however, the Subliminal floor is always pretty busy, the taste of NYC that it delivers to Ibiza through its impressive but carefully chosen line up has captured the imagination of the white island clubber. New York’s finest DJs and producers, coupled with a healthy sprinkling of international starts, not to mention the Hollywood A-listers that regularly drop into the booth to see Morillo – P-Diddy is there almost as often as our talented host – ensures that Wednesday night is one of the most popular in Pacha and the crowd seems to feed off the celebrity, partying that bit harder! I decided to go and have a wonder and head to the terrace for a ten-minute time out and to do my nosy at the chic and fabulous, who are out in force. Most are smoking cigarettes and laughing over wine and cocktails or simply looking at a Dita Von Teese style dancer in a giant martini glass.

Its not long before I’m back in the main room and judging by the atmosphere elevation it’s a sure bet that the main man has arrived and taken control. When I finally get a look at the booth my suspicions are confirmed, with a grin from ear to ear Morillo conducts the capacity crowd. It’s a far cry from the 11-year-old who started spinning at friends and family parties, now an internationally acclaimed DJ and producer with a credible record label and popular Ibiza residency, its no wonder he can’t get the smile off his face. This summer sees Subliminal maintain its policy of inviting some of them most exciting talent around to join in the fun and the likes of AN21, Carl Kennedy, Chuckie, Steve Angelo and Ryan Marciano & Sunnery James will all play a part in spreading the Subliminal spirit.
One of my favourite parts of any Pacha party is the Pacha VIP and having spotted some of my friends I was only too happy to accept their invitation to join them. The Pacha VIP is perfectly positioned to see what’s going on with the dancefloor, we can get involved before returning to the comfort of our table, not to mention the hassle of going to the bar is taken right out of the equation. Subliminal is an amazing party, the production is top drawer, the dancers are sexy and the feel-good atmosphere generated from some amazing tunes being delivered from the booth is perfect…still a bit gutted he didn’t play ‘I Like To Move It’ though.
