If you’ve managed to check out Erick Morillo this season in Pacha I’m sure you will agree that the New Jersey label head couldn’t have picked a better theme for his Ibiza 2011 party; Subliminal Invasion is exactly what goes on every Wednesday night in the world’s most famous disocteca.

Ably backed by fellow New Jersey producers Josez Nunez and Harry Romero, Morillo has assembled an international line up that ensures his weekly flagship event is always road blocked. Chuckie, Basement Jaxx, Norman Doray, Eddie Thoneick, Danny Tenaglia, Shawnee Taylor and Felix da Housecat are only some of the names that whet the appetite. August 17 has particular appeal as NYC legend Danny Tenaglia makes one of his rare visits to the island, start queuing now! There is also a special guest to be announced for the closing party on September 28 and given Erick Morillo’s history of attracting A-list celebrities to his parties, you just know it’s going to be special.
There is a flood of live performers now appearing at parties all over the island, something that Subliminal can take some satisfaction in knowing they were instrumental in initiating. The Subliminal party always had a live element to it, whether it was Shawnee Taylor picking up the microphone or P Diddy dropping by to deliver some show stopping improv, Tommy Lee Jones has also been known to drop by when Morillo is behind the decks, you never quite know what is going to happen at a Subliminal party apart from the sure fire fact that it will go off!

Erick Morillo is a master a controlling the floor, his energy behind the decks coupled with his ear for a good tune and ability to put them together has made him one of the world’s top spinners for as long as we can remember. When we land at pacha he is already on the decks, this we know before we even get to the stairs and have a view into the box, you can tell by the ten deep bank of fans standing facing him, camera phones flashing or videos recording. High energy, driving basslines are washing across the famous Pacha floor and the result is awesome, the crowd is going crazy. When he drops ‘Stronger’, his collaboration with Eddie Thonenick the place erupts, Morillo is at the top of his game, not an uncommon occurrence to be fair.

No disrespect to the other names on the Subliminal line up for the season, because they are all hugely talented performers, but you get the feeling that this crowd would happily turn out week in week out just to see their hero play the full night. He is without question one of the biggest attractions on the island. As the last tune stops and the place erupts once more we head for the door and the brilliant morning sunshine, leaving the crowd demanding another tune. The Subliminal Invasion is in full effect!
