Essentialibiza’s Charlie Chester is no stranger when it comes to putting people together that compliment one another and who ultimately go on to deliver something special. On numerous occasions i the past he has identified people that should be working with each other and facilitated the collaboration. One recent example resulted in the launch of the ‘Now Playing Music Store’ a joint venture between Music Technologies Ltd (MTL) and Sonica Radio. Charlie talks on how the hook up came about…
Social media is an outstanding platform for finding old friends and in this case introducing two of my old friends to each other for the first time, which might result in a musical revolution! I recently reconnected with Andy Dean, an old mate who many of you will know better as Andy Boilerhouse. I’ve known Andy for over two decades, he promoted some brilliant parties in London in the late eighties into Acid house and through the nineties, in fact, we co-promoted some events under the Method Air guise. He was also responsible for writing, producing and remixing some large pop hits for the likes of Donna Summer, Gabrielle and Texas, to name only a few!
We started catching up on what we were both up to, i told him about Essentialibiza and he explained his MTL concept to me, a trax detector app, which is already being pioneered by Pete Tong. I immediately recognized the potential, especially on an island such as Ibiza and could see numerous partnerships that would benefit from the concept, in this case Sonica.
I can’t count the number of times i have been driving listening to Sonica and a tune has come on either during one of their shows or as part of a mix and i have wanted to know the name and how to get a hold of it. Trax Detector does all that for you, you may even be able to buy the track direct from your phone. You may want to pull the car over first f course!
Sonica and MTL have combined to create a ‘Now Playing Music Store’ which will enable you to identify tracks as they play, buy and share these tracks on your scial media platform or just enjoy them in the knowledge that they are there for you t listen to whenever you want.
