It’s fair to say Pukka Up is the most successful Ibiza boat party, from the humble beginnings of one boat going out per week, it saw as many as eight at one point during the summer season. With sailings from San Antonio and Playa d’en Bossa, Pukka Up makes sure that you can sample its unique atmosphere, no matter which side of the island you are staying.
Summer 2012 was a landmark year for the brand in many ways, no least the launch of the Pukka Up bar, just along from the port where the boats leave from in San Antonio. This gives the brand a base as well as opening it up to those who might be too keen on a party on the ocean. As the guys get set to host the massive Pukka Up Ibiza reunion in London on November 3 – 4 boats on the Thames and after-party in Pacha London – we caught up with them to take a look back on another amazing summer…
Summer 2012 saw you launch the Pukka Up Bar/ Diner, how did that go for you?
The bar was great for us, it’s another extension of the brand we were always looking into and another way of offering the Pukka Up party concept to clubbers besides the boats and club nights.
You had more boats out per week than ever this year, how will you manage the increase in demand if it carries on in the same way in Ibiza 2013?
Yes, we had an amazing amount of boats going out – 7 boats going out for 7 straight parties at one stage. There are different options; we will always look to ensure that we offer the same experience to everyone. We’ve got a few tricks up our sleeve but that would be telling!
What was the high point of the summer for you?
To be honest we couldn’t nail down one as it was such an amazing season with so many highs. Taking over the Amnesia Terrace with it packed with just our crowd was great. Breaking records with 8 boats going out was another. As well as the day we filmed the boats from a helicopter. As ever, the return to Space was amazing.
At what point do you start planning for the next season?
We’ve already started! As soon as we come back we always look at what went well and what we can improve on for the next year to make the brand and the product even better. We never rest on our laurels.
You have an Ibiza reunion in the UK on November 3, tell us about that?
The Reunion is always an amazing party because it’s a chance for everyone who has been at one of our parties to come and catch up with friends and relive the whole experience again. We’ll be sending out four boats on the Thames followed by an amazing party at Pacha London. It always sells out in advance and this year will be no exception.
What else do you guys get up to throughout the winter?
The winter is almost as busy as the summer. We host over 100 parties throughout the year, every weekend you’ll be able to catch us all over the UK as well as parties in the likes of Dubai, Sydney, Miami and Amsterdam to name a few. Our 10th Birthday is coming up in March will be our biggest party yet. We’ve got some special things in store for that.
