As summer 2012 gradually gathers momentum, all eyes turn to San Antonio and the forthcoming launch of Ocean Beach Club Ibiza, the latest addition to the island’s al fresco clubbing experience. June 28 sees Ocean Beach Club open its doors for the first time and the anticipation is already building around the island and beyond.
Ocean Beach Club is a collaboration between Tony Truman, Duane Linkeker and Spanish Hotel Group THB Hotels. All three has vast experience in the entertainment industry not to mention a history of delivering. Their combined wealth of knowledge and understanding of what people are looking for – whether they be sunbathers during the day, afternoon lunchers, evening diners or clubbers looking for the best pre-party – suggests that Ocean Beach Club will make a huge impact on the island this summer and for many to come.
San Antonio has come a long way from the blinkered documentary depiction of the town, numerous operators have gone out of their way to bring world class establishments to the town on the south west coast of the island and the latest of them, Ocean Beach Club, is further testament to the regeneration. To be fair regeneration might be too strong a word, San Antonio was never derelict, there are plenty of amazing spots to be found in and around the town, whether you want to relax on a cool beach, eat some amazing food in unique surroundings, enjoy a stunning sunset or hear some of the latest superstar DJs, everything is available, the only thing it might have been lacking is a true VIP beach club experience, and as of June 28, that is another box checked!
Ocean Beach is unsurpassed in its location; stretching along S’Arenal beach it enjoys breathtaking views over the Mediterranean, not to mention a prime view of San Antonio’s famous sunset. The 6000 square metre site has been transformed into an oasis of luxury, all built around the 600 metre square swimming pool. Luxury day beds, VIP cabanas and relaxing hammocks in the landscaped gardens are just some of the options open to you when getting your tan on. Whether you want to be centre of attention in the pool or keeping cool in the shade, the Ocean Beach club has you covered. Two fine restaurants, five bars and a sunset terrace ensure that there are numerous options for eating and drinking and with an entertainment schedule that incorporates numerous A-List DJs and clubbing brands, as well as top drawer residents, San Antonio is really stepping up to the plate this summer.
The huge grounds of Ocean Beach Club will host two eating options, both with unique, mouth-watering menus to tantalise your taste buds. Signature restaurant Pearl offers an avant-garde, innovative culinary concept encompassing a medley of Mediterranean flavours using fresh local produce, all overseen by head chef Leon Breugelmaas. On the music front, a host of resident DJs will keep you entertained throughout the day and night, with numerous international stars passing through. Club brands such as Deep Flight, Posh Funk and Pin Up will also be contributing; making sure that the finest DJs are on hand to compliment the amazing surroundings.

While Duane added, “the aim of the venue is to bring an increased level of hospitality and entertainment to the area,” summing up that it is, “a very exciting step forward”.
As the finishing touches are added to a project that has been many months in the making and the expectation rises, not just around the island but with the legion of clubbers who are themselves counting down the hours to their Ibiza adventure, Ocean Beach Club sprung one final surprise; the announcement that THB Hotels was coming on board as a partner and that the THB Bahia Hotel, adjacent to the venue, would become the Ocean Beach Hotel in the coming months. The future looks bright for San Antonio and Ocean Beach Club as yet another exciting chapter in the history of the great island is set to begin. June 28 is the date for the opening and we can’t wait to get ourselves into a hammock!
