Union City honoured one of its own sons as international DJ and label boss Erick Morillo had part of Bergeline Avenue, the street he grew up on, renamed Erick Morillo Way. The man that has entertained dancefloors all over the world with his ability behind the DJ booth and whose label, Subliminal Records, has provided numerous anthems over the years, returned to the street of his childhood for the naming ceremony. “I’m really happy to accept this honour,” Morillo said. “This is about setting an example for the youth of tomorrow and letting them know that they can accomplish anything they set their mind to.” Morillo earlier donated 100 Nook tablets to the local school as a token of his appreciation for the community that gave him his start. The ceremony was witnessed by many of the starts who have achieved global success through the label as well as friends and family. Union City Mayor, Brian Stack, said, “It’s important to recognize those in the community who contribute to our home town. We can all be proud to call Erick a part of our community.”
