The boat charter is that exclusive Ibiza bucket list entry, to cruise about the Med in an expensive luxury boat, sipping champagne, swimming in parts of the sea no one has ever been before, pulling up to the side of the beach club in something that makes the best sports car look ordinary, with an amazing soundtrack booming in the background. It has, however, for so long been one of those bucket list entries that the normal holidaymaker will struggle to check, until now. Mamboats, a joint venture between Adam Creedy and the Mambo Group, has delivered two amazing Mastercrafts, offering the ultimate day and/or night out for the price of a club ticket. Essentialibiza and Luckylife TV were invited along to check out the trip on your behalf…
I can honestly say that in the couple of years that we have been bringing you our Ibiza adventures, I have never enjoyed anything more. The Mamboats are a genius idea! Adam, our captain, is a gentleman and makes us feel at ease from the moment that we step onto the boat and is the prefect host throughout the trip, not to mention a hell of a driver! We set off from San Antonio Marina, just along from Villa Mercedes, in two 2012 Mastercraft 255V’s, the first the luxury manufacturer has produced for salt water. There are ten of us on board and although these are considered small crafts there is loads of room. The leather interior is not dissimilar to that of the interior of a luxury car and the ride is every bit as comfortable. Mamboats has gone the extra nine yards and installed an amazing sound system and a state of the art toilet, ensuring that your four hours out on the water are as comfortable as can be. The unique design means that water never gets into the boat, no matter how fast or at what angle you are to the water, something that we would test to the limit later in the day!
As we manoeuvre carefully out of the harbour Adam fills us in on the various packages that are available and the extras that can be added to give your trip that little bit of extra exclusivity. The day trip will see you explore some stunning coastline around the island, will include a range of water sports under the watchful eye of fully trained staff and has a variety of food and beverage options, from cool beers to Dom Perignon Champagne, depending on your taste. Food wise you can opt for an exclusive restaurant table or enjoy a massive Paella on board, courtesy of El Chiringuito on Cala Gracionetta, famous for the traditional dish. For those that want to enjoy the most exclusive sunset table Ibiza has to offer, then the sunset cruise is the one for you; the boat drops anchor just off the coast opposite the legendary Café Mambo, where you will be able to enjoy the set from whichever DJ is playing in the beach bar that night through the live streaming to the boats!
Once we turn the corner out of the marina Adam really lets loose on the throttle and ‘Mamo’ kicks into action; the power surge is amazing, the boat lifts up at the front as it drives through the water and we couldn’t be more comfortable sat in the big leather chars at the back of the boat. Essentialibiza has been joined by Mike Parry and the LuckyLife TV crew, who are on the second Mamboat ‘Saphire’, capturing amazing footage as the boats zig zag between each other and head along the coast towards Cala Basa before heading past Cala Conte and around the coastline until we reach a huge rock face where bits of the cliff have fallen into the water over time, producing what can only be described as an underwater pyramid formation. We drop anchor and hit the water for some swimming and snorkelling and maybe a couple of light refreshments while we’re there!
After an hour, which seemed like a minute, we all climb back on board and set off for Cala Gracionetta, where Adam’s skill is tested as he guides the boat to its own ‘private’ mooring just outside the cool cove. This is where we would normally either get off and head to the restaurant or radio ahead and have them bring us a giant Paella bowl onto the boat. As we were stuck for time we used the opportunity to get back in the water for a bit before we finally headed for home, but not before we got some more crazy footage as the boats did sharp turns across each other, I think our boat may have even jumped out of the water at one point, I say I think because we are so comfortable in the back you hardly feel a thing, apart from the fact that you are tearing through the Med. If you’ve ever seen Hector Reva on TV advertising the lottery, I’m guessing this is a glimpse into that world he is always welcoming us to. The prices range, depending what you want to add on to your trip but, with ten of you on board, it costs less than a night out in a club and I guarantee the memory will live with you longer!
