The sun is just about setting as we turn the sharp corner and head down the hill towards Cala Vadella, below San Jose, the view is stunning. We are here on the invitation from Morgan and Emma to celebrate the opening of their restaurant Le Terrazze. Located at the start of the beach it looks out across the sand and enjoys a breathtaking view, especially at this time of night. The restaurant enjoys a terrace at the front where the view is spectacular, an inside section and some quaint garden area at the back where, tonight, they have had to set up more tables as an invite that was expected to produce 20 tables for dinner produced 65! That tells you a little bit about the expectation for this perfectly situated eatery.

The restaurant is already full when we arrive, enjoying a cool glass of sangria as we enter and mingle with friends old and new before being show to our table. There is nothing better than dining al fresco and when the surroundings are as perfect as this it’s not hard to imagine why dinner can be a lengthy process in this part of the world. Why anyone would want to be in a hurry to leave their table here is beyond me, maybe that might be the only problem for Morgan and Emma! The atmosphere is very relaxed, soft music provides a tranquil atmosphere, wine and water is quickly delivered to every table and the kids have a special area where qualified professionals offer fun activities that keep them content and occupied. This could be the perfect night out!

Personal taster menus sit at ever place giving us the run down of the food and, given that we had prepared by not eating, it was making our mouths water. Tuna salad in balsamic vinegar followed by an impromptu plate of fresh prawns and other raw fish before a delicious risotto paved the way for swordfish steaks, with a chocolate dessert to round the meal off. My translation doesn’t do the food justice but the presentation was magnificent and the taste matched it, but don’t taker my word for it, do yourself a favour and get down there, you will not be disappointed!

In between courses the conversation flowed, the staff, who were professional and friendly throughout, made sure the glasses were topped up and there was a magician gong table to table performing tricks and illusions. After dinner the music level kicked up a notch as the DJ took centre stage, the terrace area is cleared and becomes a dancefloor and the opportunity to work off some of the food we had consumed does not go a begging. It is one of those nights, which pass all too quickly, and before long it’s time to say our goodbye. Special thanks to Morgan and Emma for the invitation to their beautiful restaurant and to their staff who looked after us while we were there. We look forward to seeing you all again very soon.
