Es Vedra, the nature reserve 2 kilometres off the west coast of Ibiza, is said to be one of the world’s most magnetic places but even it must shake its head sometimes at the pulling power of it’s near neighbour. Ibiza, not even the largest of the Balearic islands, has an indefinable ability to attract the cream of the world’s talent, whether it be in music, through the clubs and club brands, in food, where the finest chefs and restaurants want to be on the island or in general, where most of the world’s sports, TV and movie stars can be seen on the island throughout the season, Ibiza is a place that attracts talent. It should be no surprise then to find out that the man behind the latest development in Marina Botafoch, Las Boas De Ibiza, is none other than acclaimed French architect Jean Nouvel. The luxury residential development, inspired by the hedonism of the island and more specifically feather boas, sees one of the most innovative architects of our time put his stamp on the white isle and what a beautiful stamp it is.

To put it musically Jean Nouvel is Beethoven for architecture, or in contemporary terms as befits the clubbing capital, he is Pacha. Having won countless accolades for his work on Barcelona’s Torre Agbar, the Arab World Institute in Paris and the Convention Centre of Lucerne, the list goes on, his excellence was recognised in 2008 through the award of architecture’s highest award, the Pritzker Prize. Jean Nouvel designs innovative, breathtaking buildings that make their mark in history and now he has turned his hand to a luxury development in Marina Botafoch, in effect delivering the opportunity to live in a piece of art.
They say that when it comes to property it’s all about location, I’m not sure they counted on one of the world’s most accomplished architects turning his hand to residential development but when it comes to location, where better for Jean Nouvel to create his living masterpiece than the stunning surroundings of Marina Botafoch. With panoramic views across the Marina to the historic Dalt Villa and Ibiza Town, as well out over the Mediterranean and the smallest Balearic island of Formentera, you couldn’t have painted a better or more inspiring view!

As far as the neighbourhood goes, Marina Botafoch has been a hive of activity in the last few years, seeing the introduction of Lio, the world-class cabaret restaurant, less than 5 minutes stroll from your front door. World renowned eatery Ciprianis just opened Downtown Ibiza next door and there’s Ibiza’s Casino also on your doorstep. The Marina, directly opposite your entrance also boasts Blue Marlin, the latest addition to famous Ibiza brand stands on the edge of the marina enjoying stunning views of Dalt Villa. Pacha, the world’s most famous club, is another short stroll away and the beauty of the Marina is that, while you are in the heart of everything, you could just as easily be miles away because the tranquillity of the area has to be experienced to be believed. A short, quaint water taxi takes you into the heart of Ibiza Town or if you prefer to stretch your legs a picturesque stroll around the Marina is yards away. If it’s the beach you seek, another short stroll and you will find yourself on Talamanca, one of the island’s finest stretches of golden sand.
Essentialibiza were lucky enough to be given a short tour by our friends at Lucas Fox and if you have been impressed with what you’ve heard so far, as the saying goes amongst theatre folk, “you ain’t see nothing yet!” The apartments are all built around a huge infinity pool, creating an amphitheatre effect and playing on the dramatic once again. The coloured piping around every balcony is another nod towards the feather boas inspiration and a play on the islands penchant for the theatrical. With a kids play area, including cinema, space for a spa and gym, the pool area becomes the central leisure focal point. The development has a 24 hour concierge and security service, giving you the comfort and convenience of five star hotel services but with the independence of your own apartment.

Inside, the apartments are beautiful. Design is clearly the first thing that strikes you, this is not your standard room, wall, corridor type of construction. There is a real fluidity to the apartment, from the curved walls, hidden compartments and amazing use of space, this is not an area that you will become bored with. Out onto the balcony and the view is breathtaking. By day, with the bright blue sky providing the perfect backdrop you can see over the marina, with all its luxury yachts, across the Mediterranean to Dalt Villa and Ibiza Town. At night, the horizon is lit up by the house and street lights from the old town. You’re main problem might be dragging yourself out of your apartment to enjoy the amazing facilities on your doorstep!
There are one to five bedroom apartments and penthouses ranging from 80 to 300m2 with ample car parking space beneath the building. The communal infinity swimming pool measures 5,000m2 and there is additional space for socialising, fitness and child care. Convenience and security are covered by the 24 hour concierge service and security and you are within 50 metres of Ibiza’s Marina and walking distance to the beach. There is literally nothing that hasn’t been thought of to compliment this Jean Nouvel designed luxury living space. Foremost botanist Patrick Blanc, lighting artist Yann Kersale and painter Alain Bony have also combined to deliver a unique experience on every level. Where do we sign!
