Following two successful seasons that have seen the charming San Rafael restaurant and bar going from strength to strength, it was only befitting that La Belle Ibiza entered its third summer on the White Isle with opening celebrations that lasted three whole days and showcased the exciting new additions to its culinary and entertainment offering for the 2017 season. Kicking off proceedings on Friday, April 14th, the venue welcomed guests from 20.00 onwards to enjoy a melange of music, spectacular entertainment and great food as they opened their giant wooden door under the theme of Un Beau Bordel, a preview of all the concepts that the stylish destination will put on throughout the summer.

Owner Arnaud Lauris told us, “We have every confidence going into our third summer. We realised last year that when we do event entertainment and create a different atmosphere and ambience that people like it very much. So this year, we will have a different event every night. We will do a different event every night, such as  “Shhh…. !”, a very Sexy Night. Last year, the Circus night was very successful, so we will bring it back on Thursdays. We will also welcome the Housepital party, which used to be a party in Pacha Ibiza before. On Saturdays, we have the Freaky Night and on Sundays we’ll do the Brunch Bazaar & Barbecue in the daytime in April and May, before it gets too hot in the summer.  And we are introducing a new concept called Gracias Ibiza, and “Balearic Night”.

As always, entertainment was a huge part of the dining experience, with performers in eye-catching outfits showing off their amazing acrobatic skills throughout the course of the night. From fire breathers to dancers, guests were mesmerised by plenty of surprises, while music by Acid Sunday’s Quantum Collage, Rodspin and resident DJ Roberto Di Movi provided the perfect soundtrack for the night. Moving from the dining area straight onto the dance floor in La Belle Ibiza’s stylish bar and club space, it was a successful first night for the chic venue.

On Saturday, April 15th, the three-day extravaganza continued with the motto ‘Freaky People Night’ with dinner service starting at 20.00, giving party guests the chance to fuel up for their turn on the dance floor by sampling the exciting new dishes available on this season’s a la carte menu. The charming restaurant was decked out in fancy dress decorations for diners to pick up from the table, and a whole rail full of costumes waiting in the corner to help you unleash your inner ‘freak’ for the night.

Every 30 minutes, a jaw-dropping live show tantalised diners to be distracted from the gorgeous fusion of French and Asian cuisine on the menu. With guests sporting pirate hats and oversized spider web goggles to join the fun, the fun factor was ramped up high when a group of dancers dressed in ‘80s leotards, fluorescent wigs and neon leg warmers performed an energetic dance routine in the dining area, encouraging guests to join in. Resident DJ Roberto Di Movi fired up the evening with a soundtrack of eclectic and infectious house music, that not only had the fantastic dancers grooving along but also customers. Tucking into treats such as zesty and fresh tuna tartare, several creative interpretations of foie gras and Thai-inspired bouillabaisse, a veritable French-Asian feast with Nikkei influences awaits diners this summer.

After dinner, island-favourite and internationally renowned DJ Andy Baxter moved the party into the stylish bar and club space adjacent to the dining room, which will be open every night this summer. An intimate space decorated in the style of what we would describe as a Moroccan disco riad, and with several great DJs on rotation over the course of the season, it makes La Belle Ibiza the perfect spot to swing in for cocktails and a boogie before hitting the super clubs of the island. Andy kept the beats funky and the tempo upbeat, making sure the party spirit remained high until the early hours.

On Sunday, April 16th, the mini opening festival ended in blissfully relaxed style with La Belle Ibiza’s popular Brunch, Bazaar & Barbecue concept, an all-day get together that combines great music with a mini market and grilled buffet. With the sun chasing a few singular clouds away, the weather was warm and breezy, and big groups of friends as well as families filled out the flower garland decorated garden space at the back of the venue, where the delicious aromas of barbecued meat and fish floated through the air. Colourful stalls offering everything from children’s toys, organic natural beauty products, boho chic fashion and leather goods tempted guests to shop, while Bruno from Ibiza played a selection of infectious feel good house tracks.

Kids were kept entertained with face painting and Easter themed crafts – and treats from the pop-up candyfloss, crepe and ice cream stall. We didn’t need to be asked twice to load up our plates at the buffet offering fresh mussels with various toppings, cuts of cold ham and bowls of fresh salad ingredients. Then it was time to hit the BBQ where treats like steak, ribs and salmon were sizzling away, served with a side of grilled veggies and potatoes. Mini desserts included French pastries, miniature pots of crème brulee and fresh fruit, rounding off the feast perfectly.

Soaking up the last of the rays in the courtyard with a crisp glass of Pure Rose from Mirabeau en Provence, we reached a state of total culinary nirvana. The legendary DJ Alfredo, who is celebrated for creating the world-famous Balearic sound, took over the booth and treated revellers to a creative and quirky set that mixed atmospheric electronic sounds with the iconic theme tune of The Pink Panther. It was a glorious end to three days of festivities, showing that La Belle Ibiza is more than ready for a bigger and better summer than ever before.
