Last summers closing party was the topic of conversation long after the beds were stored for the winter, with Robert Owens and Kerri Chandler delivering an amazing performance overlooking Cala Jondal. This year saw Kerri return, this time with Reboot and a supporting cast that included Bruce Hill, Tom Crane, Vidal Rodriguez and Prospek Rek. Sunday is the big day at Blue marlin and they don’t come much bigger than this one.
There’s not a cloud in the sky and the temperature is at the high end of the twenties, why the season doesn’t extend to the end of October remains a mystery to me. Those extra couple of weeks would be hugely popular, especially when the weather everywhere else is so dismal! Blue Marlin is basking in the last couple of hours of sunshine, the place is already packed and people are grooving, saving themselves for the dancing that will come later. The sound system is chunky and cool beats wash across the white floors, over the beds and down to the waters edge. This is not the crowd that comes specifically to hear a DJ, Blue Marlin Ibiza is the undoubted star of this show but it is definitely one that recognises talent and there is plenty of it on show.
As the sun disappears the light come on around Blue Marlin Ibiza and the giant video screen really comes to life. The Blue Marlin residents do a sterling job of getting the crowd ready before Reboot and Kerri Chandler. Beautiful people occupy the dancefloor and area surrounding the DJ booth, stunning dancers in white stockings and beaded wigs add even more glamour while Kerri Chandler does what he does best, gets people dancing. Kerri has been a driving force in the electronic scene for as long as we can remember, he has been at the centre of numerous road-blocked parties and, as he controls the Blue Marlin Ibiza crowd with ease; it’s not hard to see why. He has a confidence about him that sees the music blends together flawlessly and constructs the prefect soundtrack for the occasion. It’s has been another amazing year for the Blue Marlin brand that saw it open in the UAE as well as the marina in Botofoch. As Kerri takes the closing party crowd on a musical trip, it’s safe to say that they’re in good hands. Roll on Ibiza 2013.
