The eighteenth birthday is a significant one, it’s a coming of age, it’s the point we are officially adults and that’s when all the fun begins, right? When you’re an established Ibiza institution, turning 18 holds just as much significance albeit for completely different reasons. KM5 is one of the finest venues on the island and has enjoyed a popularity over the years that others could only dream of. The enchanting garden five kilometres outside of Ibiza Town on the road to San José has captured the heart of millions of tourists and locals over the last 18 years, it’s genuine Balearic vibe, delightful gardens, Bedouin styled tents and lounging areas continue to make its clientele feel at home whenever they visit. As with everything it does, KM5 celebrated this monumental achievement by throwing a party with the understated elegance that has become its trademark over the years.
KM5 has the wow factor, from the tented lounge areas to the cool bar and out into the garden, it is easy on the eyes and with the sun long since set and the soft, coloured lighting washing over the entire area, she does look especially pretty for her party. The first thing that grabbed our attention as we walked into the bar area was the girls dancing o the podiums. They had forsaken clothing for the night and opted instead to use white tape, using the tape and the contours of their body to fashion some kind of outfit that leave just enough for the imagination. KM5 is getting naughty as it turns 18! The restaurant is packed, every table occupied, conversation bursting from each of them, combining to create a busy vibe. This was clearly a birthday party that nobody wanted to miss. Locals mix with island veterans and the odd tourist in the know, creating a typically cosmopolitan atmosphere.
The luxurious tents provided the perfect base of operations, cocktail in hand we people watched while the delicious mix of alcohol got to work. Ibiza Angels were also on hand, delivering massages to people where the sat, there’s nothing that KM5 won’t do to get you in a relaxed mood! As with every celebration in Ibiza there was a DJ, delivering a cool, deep house mix, which complimented the evening perfectly. Models walked around, dressed in various island designers, styled by the KM5 boutique in-house stylist, adding even more glamour and beauty to the occasion. As the diners started finishing their meals and joining in the party the bar are got busier and there was even some dancing to be seen. This was a birthday party with a difference; we can’t wait until she turns 21!
