Thursday September 20 sees Safehouse Management present Carl Cox at Sands Ibiza, as he returns to the beach for his annual Soul & Funk party. Playa d’en Bossa is where the action will be happening as Carl delves into his musical archive and plays a selection of tunes that influenced him back in the day. It’s the perfect day out, great music, always a good crowd and an idyllic spot for lunch or just to get your groove on. Carl will be joined behind the decks by Antz, one of our favourite on island DJs, guaranteeing that this is not one to miss.
It’s an annual occasion that sees one of the most influential characters in electronic music today return to his roots and indulge in an afternoon of the finest soul and funk, filling the beach and dropping classic tracks that have inspired a generation of dance music DJs. Carl Cox will be wearing his usual ear to ear grin as he takes a nostalgic look through his extensive record collection, picking out a few classics that will definitely have you singing along. The crowd is usually mixed, from the club kids that hear that Carl Cox is playing on the beach to the older clubber that prefers to his/ her clubbing before the sun goes down. Faces from all over the island pop in, it’s September after all, and everything has started slowing down, if only a little. There’s a slight drop in the temperature and a satisfaction that the madness of August has passed for another year.
Antz will also be on deck duty, yet another experienced DJ with three decades behind him and a record collection to match.
