Ibiza 2011 broke all sorts of records for attendance, the island enjoyed its busiest ever season and by the looks of things at the launch party of Es Paradis tonight, 2012 will be hell bent on improving on last year. The season is not quite in full swing yet but the numbers that have flocked to the island at the first hint of some opening parties suggests that Ibiza 2012 might well be yet another one to remember. Es Paradis is the definition of an Ibiza clubbing institution, having delivered amazing experiences for an army of clubbers for as long as Ibiza has been the clubbing capital. Home to numerous high profile clubbing brands, tonight it’s the turn of the stunning old venue to take centre stage as it opens its doors for the first time this season.
Es Paradis is one of the island’s original clubbing super powers, the interior design lending itself perfectly to the clubbing theatre that has made the island famous all over the world. With numerous multi level platforms all over the main room, Es Paradis is the perfect place for dancers, acrobats and other performers to showcase their abilities, high above the crowded room, adding to the drama of the party. Tonight, huge inflated stars hang from the ceiling, with dancers, performers and violinist B-Linda, complete with glowing violin, decked out in full costume and adding to the atmosphere created by the numerous DJs who take it in turns to drop musical bombs from the elevated DJ booth.
The club is mobbed, you would be forgiven for thinking that this is the height of the season and the club has been open for numerous weeks already. Ibiza is undoubtedly the world’s clubbing capital and as such has the reputation as the must visit Mecca for all discerning dance music lovers but the signs are that the popularity that it has enjoyed amongst clubbers for the last few decades is set to go through the roof. Increased numbers year on year has reflected the explosion of the dance scene in areas of the world that up to now have dabbled without getting fully involved. Es Paradis tonight is further proof, as if any was actually needed, that Ibiza is the place to be if electronic music is your thing. The atmosphere in the legendary club is electric, after months of anticipating the opening of their favourite island; the capacity crowd is here to enjoy itself!
DJ Oliver, Steve Valverde, Alex Sedna and Hed Kandi’s Sam Cannon are responsible for entertaining the huge crowd, and judging by the huge grins from inside the DJ booth, the clubbers are not the only ones that have been patiently waiting for the start of the new season. Each DJ takes it in turns to drop huge electronic nuggets, old and new, to a crowd that might have danced to white noise, such is the anticipation of the launch party! Es Paradis offers a variety of spaces for those looking to get their groove on but tonight, every available space has become a dancefloor as the capacity crowd responds to the considerable ability that washes across it from the massive speakers all around the venue. Es Paradis celebrates yet another amazing Ibiza opening, the 2012 season can’t come quick enough!
