While we do love dancing outdoors, especially through the day and into the night, there’s really nothing to compare with sharing a musical experience with a few thousand like-minded friends under the roof of one of the world’s most famous clubs. Defected In The House, Pacha is the perfect opportunity; musically we know we are in good hands, no matter which Saturday of the season it is, such is the strength in depth of the London based house label and with Pacha, there are very few venues in the world that can boast its history.
Still naturally high from the previous few hours in Ushuaia we land in Pacha and things have already begun to come to the boil. Copyright and Shovel combine to whip the Defected crowd up, dropping chunky beats, some old school loveliness and several of their own productions along the way. Every night is a Saturday night in Ibiza, which could be tricky for some brands but not for Defected, this is a label that is used to delivering roadblock parties around the world and their Saturday night in Pacha is as strong as ever.
Shovel, resplendent in robes and body paint, overlooks the Pacha dancefloor, delivering a percussive masterclass, interacting with the capacity crowd and generally adding to the theatre of the occasion. The Pacha dancers are stunning and occupy podiums throughout the main room, clearly enjoying the tunes as much as the regular punters, who need no encouragement whatsoever to take to the floor.
Back in the box and Sam Holt and Gavin Mills are having a good day at the office, the floor is rocking and the duo have beaming smiles as they flow through their set, alternating deck duties as they go along. Chunky, tribal beats, synth stabs, driving basslines and an odd vocal here and there has captured the crowds imagination, They are hooked and the rest of the set is met with numerous hands in the air moments and cheers as the next tune kicks into life. This is a duo at the top of their game and they make the task of controlling one of the world’s best rooms look easy.
Next up is Chus and Penn, still buzzing after their headline set at Ushuaia, baton firmly accepted from Copyright they set off on a chunky house trip, much to the delight of the crowd. Defected In The House, Pacha Ibiza will play host to many of the world’s top house DJs and producers throughout the summer, Saturday on the island never had it so good!
