It doesn’t seem like a year ago we were on this very street marching towards Pacha for our first taste of the famous old club of that summer. Defected Records is in town to start its summer residency on Saturday night in Pacha and after warming up with a sunset defected party earlier we are more than ready for part two. Simon Dunmore returns to Pacha alongside Shapeshifters Simon and Max, French superstar Bob Sinclar, Shovel Drum Warrior and the stunning Pacha dancers, what else could you ask for? The 2012 season is well under way and the buzz on the avenue as we make our way to the familiar surroundings of the Pacha front door is one of the reasons that this small island in the Balearics has become the most important place for clubbers from around the world.
Pacha is packed by the time we get in and the atmosphere is well on the way to raising the old roof. History aside, and Pacha has witnessed some of the finest performances in a DJ booth from many of the scene’s trailblazers, the venue lends itself to an amazing atmosphere. The arena type lay out, with everything focusing on the booth and the dancefloor makes it one of the venues that every DJ wants to play. Tonight it is the turn of the Shapeshifetrs, Simon Dunmore and Bob Sinclar. The Pacha dancers are already up on their podiums in typical sexy attire, adding the touch of glamour and theatre that Ibiza has become famous for. Shovel stands amongst his drum set up, in full battle make up, delivering a rhythmic accompaniment to the cool, house sound track.
Bob Sinclar is holding court as we arrive and he has the dancefloor already in the palm of his hand. The Frenchman delivers a groovy, diso influenced set that has the Pacha main room going crazy. As one of the most successful house producers and DJs, Bob Sinclar regularly travels the globe spreading his house gospel and has been lucky enough to have played in many of the finest venues around, he will have done well to have matched the reaction he is getting from the Pacha faithful tonight. Defected will be residing in Pacha between now and September 29 during which time talent the likes of Dennis ferrer, Junior Jack & Kid Crème, Tensnake, Solomun, David Morales, Aeroplane and Dimitri From Paris will be passing through and sharing their considerable talent with the capacity crowd. Saturday night in Ibiza means all roads lead to Pacha as house music shows why it has dominated dancefloors for over three decades!
