Carnival Of Clubbing

Supermartxe and Privilege is a match made in heaven, the world’s biggest club provides the ultimate space for a party that has become synonymous with its attention to detail and huge production. The show that accompanies one of the island’s most colourful parties would not be out of place on Broadway, such is its magnitude, and as we head towards San Rafael, we are looking forward to checking it out for the first time this year.

Supermartxe at Privilege

Supermartxe is living, breathing proof of what can be achieved on the island of dreams, starting off as a free party, it has become one of the strongest events on the world’s clubbing capital, regularly filling the 10,000 capacity Privilege. It has captured the imagination of a clubbing generation through flawless DJ bookings, an amazing clubbing sound track, breathtaking production and more than a hint of risk taking. Supermartxe exploits sex and vice throughout it’s party and is definitely not for the feint hearted, instead it’s a free spirit that calls it like it sees it, if you get uncomfortable seeing a naked body on the beach, this might not be the party for you.

Tonight’s line up includes Vitti, Salva Di Nobles, Michael Sanchez and Hugo Sanchez and, like most of the events so far this season, is close to a sell out. Privilege is packed and the atmosphere is electric as we make our way into the huge main room. A huge curtain covers the stage area, keeping us ion suspense as to the nature of tonight’s performance. Dancers are on their podiums, wearing only carefully placed tape and leaving very little to the imagination. The huge sound system is booming, dropping a cool selection of house grooves on a crowd that is clearly in the mood for a party.

The gay friendly extravaganza attracts a very cool crowd, glamorous and dressed up for the occasion, enjoying the music and revelling in the sexual edge that this party exudes. It feels naughty just being in here, like we know we are not meant to be here, which makes it even more enjoyable! Performers and dancers are everywhere, adding to the carnival feel of the party and there is a definite air of anticipation at what lies behind the giant curtains. The party tag line for the season is “Let’s get wild” and that’s exactly what it is doing. The floor is full, everyone is dancing as a unicyclist on a tight rope passes above our heads, it’s a genuine clubbing circus!

When the massive curtains eventually open they reveal two huge American football helmets filled with screens showing different faces, the dancers and acrobats are in full American flag costumes and the giant screen that covers the wall behind the stage allows even the furthest away from the front see exactly what is going on. The show is stunning, from the well choreographed dancing to the vocalist, there is so much going on, it’s not hard to get lost in the magic of it all and forget you’re in the middle of the dance floor of the biggest club in the word. Ice cannons, exploding confetti bombs and streamers complete the carnival atmosphere.

Supermartxe at Privilege

This is by far one of the most spectacular parties that we have been lucky enough to experience this summer, on this evidence, it’s no surprise that Supermartxe has gone form a free party to one of the biggest on the island, if you haven’t made it to Privilege on a Friday night yet, get it in your to do list, you will not be disappointed.
