Be/Toolroom Closing Party

‘Be’ launched in Space Ibiza in 2008 and has spent every year since building on its popularity, making it one of the islands cooler parties last summer. 2012 saw Mark Knight return as resident, bringing the weight of his Toolroom records party concept, Toolroom Knights, with him for a unique summer collaboration that would see many of the label stable mates make an appearance on the Wednesday nights as well as numerous electronic heavyweights from around the world. Mark Knight must be the hardest working touring DJ on the planet; he is constantly in the air, travelling to the four corners of the world to keep up with an almost impossible DJ diary. This is not a coincidence, the talented British DJ/ producer has been on the road from the minute he got his name out there, working every territory, entertaining millions along the way and spending the rest of the time in the studio making sure that he builds on those performances. The result has seen him become one of the biggest DJs on the planet and a residency in Space Ibiza is the very least he deserves!

The summer season has seen many of the world’s top DJs join Mark in Space every Wednesday, the likes of Miguel Campbell, Wally Lopez, Stefano Noferini, Kaskade and Michael Woods is just some of the talent and tonight, as Space gets set to say goodbye to Be/ Toolroom Knights for the season we are looking forward to seeing Mark alongside Umek and Sander van Doorn, with Danny Marques joining Marco Loco and Oscar Cano on the Sunset Terrace. It’s just both the Terraces for tonight and I have to admit I love the change. Being able to get between two rooms and enjoy a little space to dance is the ideal scenario for me when clubbing. The Sunset Terrace vibe is cool as Danny Marques drops chunky beats to a room of smiling faces. This is the perfect place to get warmed up before taking on the Terrace. Several refreshments and amazing tunes later, we head inside, just as the bass disappears from the Sunset Terrace and the music level comes down a notch, although not the intensity as Oscar and Marco keep their crowd dancing!

Mark Knight takes centre stage in the Terrace and the journey begins. This is a talented DJ that has learned his craft and perfected it on the road playing to millions of clubbers on every continent. He effortlessly takes the Terrace on a journey from chunky house through to tech house with several progressive nuggets thrown in for good measure. Never mind the genre labelling; what he does is entertain us with a series of carefully picked and mixed tracks of the highest quality. Every tune belonged exactly where it was played and the reaction from the crowd of discerning music lovers inside the room was nothing short of what was deserved. Sander van Doorn is next up and he picks up the musical baton and the journey continues. It’s all smiles behind the booth, it’s nice to see the DJs having a bit of fun with it, so many times we are looking into a grim faced spinner, trying not to lose their cool during their set, lose it, we prefer it that way! Umek makes up the trio of Terrace performers and delivers a typically entertaining mixture of chunky beats, with the odd breakdown and sprinkling of melody. He has been a favourite of ours for a while now, combining a talent for producing amazing music with an ability to take a room and make it dance. That’s what he does with Space tonight as Be/ Toolroom Knights goes out in style. The collaboration has worked yet again; we look forward to seeing what Ibiza 2013 brings for the popular Wednesday night party.
