Peace, love and harmony are the foundations on which Bambuddha Grove is built on, and the ‘Black Sheep Tribe’ themed opening party of this famous Ibiza haunt personally embraces every single follower who enters the temple of tranquillity, which houses electronic music with a Far Eastern edge. With beautiful gold Buddhas presiding their wisdom from every corner of this Asian inspired restaurant, bar and lounge of love, the second you step through the doors at reception is like opening your soul and freeing your wicked side to all of the sexy, sultry yet enlightening rooms dedicated to indulge your spirit, body and mind.
Starting with the Bali restaurant, opening party night is packed to its bamboo rafters as fans of the MediterrAsian fusion dine under the authentic Balinese banjak roof – that was transported to Ibiza from the Far East, apparently along with the craftsmen to put it all together, at Bambuddha’s inception. First, we enjoy a cheeky little cocktail that gets our juices flowing in anticipation for the fun being had downstairs. Mouthwatering temptations on the cocktail list include Shivalingas, Goa Express, and Yoni Ocoo – a spearmint style mojito that made our taste buds tingle.
After finding it a little difficult to prise ourselves off the super-comfortable sofa that we just sank into, we wander, drink-in-hand, to the stylish Siam bar where we catch Denis Naidanow rocking up a funky, slightly techno/electro style mini-tornado. This DJ/producer is definitely one to watch out for this summer and he’s recently worked with the likes of Laidback Luke. Finding him kicking out a little bit of his magic at the opening of the Grove is an unexpected but extra special delight. Downstairs into the dark room – the Tantra bar – the island’s DJ about town Mr Brian Beeswax is delivering a dark, pulsating set that pushes our buttons just that little bit further. Surrounded by a sea of mystical artefacts and reminders that we are all as one, the whole concept is so nicely put together that we can’t tear ourselves away.
If you’ve never been to Bambuddha Grove, expect to find stirrings in places that you never knew existed. Even if you’re firmly in touch with your music tastes, preferences and sexuality, you can’t help but be somewhat intrigued and excited (and maybe even a little embarrassed if you’re there with your mum) if you weren’t forewarned about the array of sex toys and sensual play things that are displayed in the ladies loos, or the homage to Kama Sutra which adorn the walls, fused with a spiritualness and freedom, which is apparent in every inch of the place.
But believe us when we say that this VIP, super luxurious and simply beautiful sanctuary, created by the legendary John Moon, will entice you into freeing yourself and embracing… well, everything really. For the summer, Bambuddha Grove will once again be delivering its usual array of exclusive events, fine cuisine, luscious cocktails and even a 25% discount for loyal residents to this house of Buddha. Prepare to find yourself, to have your deepest inspirations awakened as well as your taste buds tantalized as Bambuddha Grove prepares itself for another amazing Ibiza season.
