Amante Is Open

Sunday afternoon in Ibiza and we’re heading for one of the finest spots on the island. Set on the cliff overlooking Sol D’en Serra bay, Amante provides a dramatic location, surrounded by rocks and lush greenery, looking out to sea and tonight’s full moon. Restaurant owner Dave Piccioni knows a thing or two about throwing a party and with a beach barbecue and some top-notch entertainment, it promises to be an afternoon/ evening to remember. The return of the Amante opening party has captured the imagination of the Ibiza faces, who have turned out in force.

Amante offers a unique multi level venue with one of the most breathtaking views on the island. The full venue is open and the DJ booth is set up on the lower level with the Sonica FM guys also in attendance, broadcasting the event across their network. The line up befits a major club brand opening, never mind a restaurant, no matter how popular, and includes the likes of Nightmares On Wax, Iban Mendoza, DJ Antz, Jon Sa Trincha, Live Ibossim and Steve Harris, add to that the Rolls Royce of sound systems from D&B audio and the stage is set for one of those unforgettable Ibiza parties. Is there anywhere else in the world where such detail would go into the opening party of a beach restaurant?

The party has been meticulously planned, one of the many reasons that Amante has become one of the most popular wedding spots on the island, even the weather is playing ball, there’s not a cloud in the sky and things are looking good for the full moon later. Having had a couple of other events to cover earlier in the day we are gutted to learn that we have missed Jon Sa Trincha’s set, there’s no doubt that the view from Amante is custom built for JST’s eclectic abilities behind the turntables. The lower deck is crammed, as people catch up after a few months of winter and before the madness of the summer has them too busy to look sideways, it has a real sense of family about it. Numerous nationalities coming together in a special place to enjoy the camaraderie that has made this island famous throughout the world.

George Nightmare On Wax is in control of the mighty sound system and with the beaming smile splashed across his face, he is clearly loving the sound that it is producing. Coincidentally, the huge crowd is wearing a similar smile, loving the sounds that George is producing for them. The food on the barbecue smells amazing, note to self, try not to eat just before attending a barbecue in future, shows a serious lack of planning! The fact that I am tempted to eat again just because it looks and smells so good is testament to the quality of the fare on offer. The sun goes down and the moon rises above the horizon, reflecting off the sea, producing a glow that lights up the sky, producing yet another excuse for us to be thankful. The party continues inside as the temperature drops and we catch up with Dave Piccioni to get his thoughts on the opening. “It’s one if the best parties I have ever done, a diverse mix of people, as an Ibiza party should be. My phone been on fire all day!”
