Is there a more dramatic spot in Ibiza for a party than Amante? Overlooking Sol d’en Serra on three levels with a multitude of possibilities, makes the restaurant one of the island’s unique party spots and, judging by the amount of cars parked along the road leading up to the car park, it looks like most of the island agrees. Amante is an idyllic spot for food, whether you want to enjoy the heat and view of the daytime or the dramatic setting under the stars at night. Having attended a wedding there this summer I can also speak of how amazing it is for that occasion. This is the first time I’ve witnessed her in full party mode and it has to be said, she can party with the best of them.

Obviously it helps that it’s Ibiza and Amante is full of some party hardened professionals, not to mention the odd superstar DJ or five! We get to Sol d’en Serra just as the sun disappears behind the side of the mount ain on our right, shading the venue, so it’s layers all round for the educated crowd that know the island well. Jon sa Trincha is dong his best to replace the rays of the sun with the heat coming from his CDJ players, dropping some amazing tunes, including a few re-edits that has the ever growing crowd huddles around the outside bar singing. Kids show off their acrobatic skills on the lower level while faces from all over the island catch up. Ex Dirty Vegas producer Paul Harris chats away with Ibiza Sonica Wingin It presenter Jon Beach, everything is very much civilised but it’s early doors yet!

Tom Findlay of Groove Armada is the special guest and he takes over as the sun disappears and night time set in. Most people have moved out of the first level and either into the level with the booth and the bar or are on the lower level where a dancefloor has become apparent, although there are people dancing on the tables at this point. It’s the perfect location, there is not a neighbour in sight, the beats are cranked up and the atmosphere is elevated accordingly. It might be October and the temperature is definitely a few miles south of the height of the summer but the Ibiza love for dancing under the stars is still evident and, given the level of the entertainment, it’s not hard to see why this and the Amante opening party are two of the most popular parties of the season.

Tom Findlay delivers a funk fuelled couple of hours that sets the tone for the rest of the night and has Amante dancing before he hands over control of the booth with the best view in the world over to Antz. Ibiza Sonica is set up just behind the booth, bringing a live feed of the music from the event as well as some interviews with the stars of the show and some of the guests that are clearly enjoying themselves. Igor fro Sonica is busy chatting in between tunes as Antz gets set to play. We have caught Antz a few times this summer, and he has never failed to get us dancing. His unique ability to read and crowd and deliver the prefect sound track is what makes him one of our favourite DJs on the island and tonight, he does exactly that. Looking out across the sea, bookmarked on both sides by steep hills, this has to be one of the finest DJ booths anywhere in the world. The outside bar level is now full, down below people are dancing where they stand and over in the corner, next to the big bean bags, a chill out area has been created, where people are sitting and chatting, enjoying the music and the amazing atmosphere.

Amante has the ability to be three or four things at once, making it the perfect place to entertain a crowd of mixed ages, ensuring that everyone gets what they want for the party and goes home smiling. We’ve certainly had a blast as we decide it’s time to head to our third stop of the night. David Oleart and Iban Mendoza have still to play and there is talk of an after party inside after midnight with Andy Baxter. The big clubs may have closed and the army of clubbers that invade the island during the summer months may have retreated for winter but the Ibiza vibe is very much alive and well and the party spirit will never leave.
For those that can’t wait until next year for your Amante fix, the restaurant is still open until October 21.
