60 Seconds with Rob Wilder

Rob Wilder is one of the busies DJs on the island, with several residencies and the occasional boat party he has somehow managed to get more than 24 hours out of the day. We caught up with him to find out how he relaxes away from the decks.

What is it about Ibiza that makes it so special?

She is a beautiful woman no doubt who also has an extremely cheeky and naughty side to her, yet this beauty is in a class of her own! Her beautiful beaches and amazing restaurants finely balance the biggest and best clubs and bars in the world, she is perfect I want to marry her!

Does Ibiza still play a role in breaking a new tune?

Good question, does anywhere break a tune anymore? I think if it's a great track DJs will always play it and with the state of Internet media now they can find and get these tunes so much easier!

How important is Ibiza to the building of a global club brand?

I think Ibiza is massively important to any brand that wants to be recognised globally! Ibiza is also a great place to use as a blank canvas sometimes to try out new ideas and concepts.

Describe your first Ibiza experience?

I booked a package holiday with a mate in 1992 and we didn't know what hotel or resort we were staying in and ended up in Portinatx! Which is an amazing place, so for there years we went back there until we discovered the rest of the island!

Away from the club how do you relax on the island?

Mainly on a beach, beside my pool, or stumbling about in the sea snorkelling!

Which is your favourite beach?

I have two. Cala Gracianetta for its cold wine and gorgeous Mussels, followed by Cala Tarida for its awesome restaurants and snorkelling!

What are you listening too chilling on the beach?

Mainly bands, or drum and bass! Not very chilling right!

You've got a night off, where do you head for food?

I love going to the Gallery in Santa Eulalia or Olivio in the old town but to be fair I don't have a night off, it's work work work!

Name three essential items needed to survive your Ibiza trip?

Lots of sleep and water! Oh and at least one sunset at Savannah!

What's the strangest thing you've seen/experienced on the island?

Possibly a boat of naked swingers going past Savannah last summer at sunset as two dolphins jumped and played in the bay in the background! Very bizarre!
