We Love Space Ibiza 2013

It doesn't seem like yesterday that we were shouting “roll up roll up” for the launch of We Love's summer extravaganza back in June. Since then, the popular Sunday party in Space Ibiza has delivered a festival of fun week after week, attracting record breaking crowds and delivering some of the finest electronic talent on the planet. No one could blame the We Love team if they were sitting on a beach somewhere right now, feet up and cocktail in hand, truth be told they are probably already thinking about next year, such is the level of commitment needed to deliver the weekly party. They set the bar high and then go about smashing it every year and 2012 saw it obliterated as they brought unbelievable line up after unbelievable line up to Playa d'en Bossa.

The opening fiesta is the one that sets the standard for the season, the one that everyone is looking forward to and the one that really gets the momentum going for a brand on the island. This is something that the We Love crew are clearly acutely aware of, as the We Love opening party was a roadblock! The Innervision showcase, featuring Henrik Schwarz live as well as Dixon and Ame DJing was an inspirational first choice. Elsewhere they invited Carl Craig and derrick May back as well as Paul Woolford and Ben UFO going back to back. Tensake also played live and BBC Radio 1 favourites Jaymo & Andy George took responsibility for the Sunset Terrace once again. The tone for the summer was successfully set!

Summer 2012 saw We Love build on its eclectic reputation, a reputation built over years of delivering huge line up's on a weekly basis, spread across numerous electronic genres, ensuring that there is as much quantity as there is quality in Space every Sunday, giving everyone an option, no matter what their dance music preference. From Hot Chip to Felix da Housecat, from Groove Armada to Miss Kittin and from 2manydjs to James Zabiela, every room was filled with the finest talent available and the crowds flocked to check it out. The quantity of talent on show is only one of the reasons Sundays in Space has reached legendary status with the discerning clubbers who populate the island throughout the summer, the attention to detail when deliberating over each line up, which results in flawless transitions between DJs, ensuring each room has a musical structure every night, is another vital component.

By the time the closing party came around, record numbers of clubbers had passed through the famous Space doors every Sunday, making it one of its most successful seasons to date. The collaboration with Space the venue to celebrate its 23rd birthday party was only one of many highlights this summer and in closing, it had a great deal to celebrate, cue another amazing line up. Groove Armada returned for a DJ set, as did Hot Chip, the 2 Bears, Paul Woolford, Simian Mobile Disco, James Zabiela and Ibiza legend Alfredo, another regular throughout the season and who played alongside his son Jaime Florito as their Heritage Project continues to capture the imagination. It was a fitting end to an amazing summer as every room was packed full of smiling, happy clubbers, being entertained by a group of talented artists at the very top of their game in a party that is built for exactly that. We Love has amassed a huge army of followers, whose trust in them is not misplaced. It has been won over the course of a few seasons as it constantly delivers top quality entertainment. It's my hope that the We Love gang is taking it easy for a while and recharging its batteries because topping summer 2012 is going to take a monumental effort but one I'm sure they're up to, roll on Ibiza 2013!
