Cadenza Pacha Sunday/ Ushuaia Thursday

I think it's fair to say that Luciano and his Cadenza Vagabundos pitching up in Pacha on a Sunday night was one of the surprise packages of recent Ibiza seasons. Cadenza, known for underground house and techno, masters of the guerrilla party and flag flyers of the cooler underground scene on the island choosing Pacha, the world's most glamorous discothèque as their party headquarters might have seemed like madness in some quarters but it proved to be a master stroke, delivering one of the finest nights on the island.

2012 saw cadenza go from strength to strength. Ibiza has gotten over the shock of the unlikely collaboration and has embraced a partnership which offers a true underground experience on a Sunday night. I think it's fair to say that the cadenza pacha party is much more like the original Cadenza vibe, even if pacha is one of the world's most glamorous brands. The venue does lend itself to a proper underground party, the sound system does the sound track of underground nuggets justice and 2012 saw many of the finest exponents of the genre deliver numerous amazing parties throughout the summer.

Cadenza has spread its wings in recent years, occupying the Thursday in Ushuaia, Playa d'en Bossa. 2012 saw that residency maintain the capacity numbers it enjoyed during its launch season in 2011. Ushuaia is one of the most talked about venues on the island and Thursday remained one of the most popular parties, with a truly cosmopolitan crowd supporting Luciano and his array of guests throughout the summer. Highlights of this summer included a collaboration with Richie Hawtin and his Enter party, which made its debut in Space in 2012, which saw both parties collaborating to offer an unlikely double party starting in Ushuaia and heading across to Space after midnight. The Cadenza closing party also produced another highlight as MAW, Louie Vega and Kenny 'dope' Gonzalez made a memorable appearance, with the huge crowd ignoring the rain to send the party off in style. 2013 promises to be another exciting year for the popular brand.
